inspiration brought to you by flicker photos...i have no idea how to make a mosaic of my own but found this one when i hit "search" grandmother's garden quilts.i think i may give it a go...does anyone have any advise?
ps: i promise this the last post from me today...i just could help this one though, and i can't be held accountable for GI joe's lovey dovey letter so yeah, no more from this camp today!

Make your own mosaics at www.bighugelabs.com, sign up for a free account, and go to the mosaic maker. You can do some pretty cool things there. It is what I use for all of the different mosaics that I have posted on my blog. Kelly turned me on to it. Try it- it is fun!

I just love the Grandmother's flower garden pattern also. I put a table topper sized one together while my mom underwent brain surgery and the subsequent long rehabilitation period. She was 2 hrs away, so after the drive, we'd talk for hours and I'd stitch, or she'd rest and I'd stitch.
If you are a confident beginner paper piecer (that's my favorite method - basting the fabric to the cardstock template - then it'll be a breeze for you. Then I found the step of handstitching them together was a really fun part to pull it all together with some cute little centers. Then I appliqued it to a piece of background fabric.
Since I had like 15minute's notice to pack and head to the hospital, I might have chose a better "pop" color for the center, but I'm still very pleased with the result and it holds a special place in my heart for all of that close and emotional time spent with my dear Momma.
