V and Co: Quilt Patterns for Ombre basics

The day has come where I talk and talk about our newest patterns using all TWENTY of our new Ombre Basics with Moda.
I really can't gush over these enough, I've been dreaming of these for 5 years. And I feel like I just want to scream from the hilltops about them!
It's been so fun working with them in real life, and I have a feeling you will enjoy them too!
They ship January 2016 (I know boo!) BUT here's some great news:

To CELEBRATE our 20 ombre debut we are going to give you a 30% off discount off all PDF patterns. Just enter OMBRE30B at check out and it will take 30% off your whole purchase of PDFs (yes! Soon you can use these new colors in our old ombre Patterns as well! EXCITING!)

So lets start talking about our newest patterns shall we?
First up we have Baby Ombre Dot:
This pattern highlights the use of each of all the different shades in each of the 20 colors we offer.
These circles are appliquéd, and we show you how to turn over appliqué in a quick and painless way using your sewing machine.  Of course there's always the even quicker way of appliqué, with raw edges! Have a GO cutter? well then, use the 2" circle template and you will have yourself a quilt in a couple of hours!
This pattern also includes instructions for the pillow and the banner shown.
featured colors in the top left are: Magenta, Mint, Teal, Taupe
Quilt measures 42" square, the pillow measures 16" finished and the banner is approx. 80" in length

This Pattern uses every one of the 20 Ombre fabrics (minus taupe). Pay close attention the background, that my friend is using just one ombre gradient called Sand. I wanted a neutral that could be used as a background all on its own and that color is Sand! Taupe would be another great one to use here as well, but we wanted to really show off this neutral with its different shades! I can't wait to use it in like every quilt!

I know I say this every time, but I mean it this time…THIS quilt is my favorite. I may or may not have already placed this quilt on my bed, even though it needs to go to market. Whatever LOVE IT!

Photographer Lauren (who also did all my Simply Color book pictures) came down for a night and we had some fun. She was on assignment from something else and well when she was done she did me a huge favor. We, (by "we", I mean her…) she went into the creek (with snapping little fish) to get this picture. this picture shows the quilt off beautifully! Thanks Lauren!!!
Criss Cross Applesauce comes in three sizes:
large: 72" x 96" as shown
medium: 56" x 72" throw size
baby: 48" x48"

Up next is also a favorite, it's our Geometric Tote
http://vandco.bigcartel.com/product/geometric-quilted-tote-pdf
This quilted tote consists of 2 ombre colors (here it's graphite gray, and onyx) with white, made up of half square triangles, and squares to make a stunning look for this bag.
Large enough to store quite a bit, but not too big that you couldn't use it as your regular around the town bag!

The leather handles makes for a nice polished look.
Inside there is a large side zippered pocket
AND it has a zipper closed top
This bag measures 18" x 15" x 6"

Next we have another fantastic quilt:
This quilt is a great way to show off the all 20 (minus sand, and onyx)
This quilt is pretty awesome if I do say so myself. The Judgy Cat herself really likes this one too. It's her favorite, its the one she planted herself on every time it was anywhere. She didn't touch the other quilts just this one. I'm kind of offended that she isn't too into the other ones, almost enough to ask...Like she'd tell me anyways.

so even though we didn't use Onyx and Sand in this one…look how beautiful it would look as a baby quilt in these neutrals!
I think I'm going to have to make one of each. And maybe instead of a baby one I'll have to make a throw for my living room…but I can't decide which one…I have some decisions to make…or maybe I'll just make both :)

Here on the left (the close up) you see popsicle pink, coral, honey, the lightest shade of persimmon, lagoon, popsicle pink again, aubergine, taupe, and a little bit of navy.
This quilt comes in three sizes:
large: 72" x 96" as shown
medium: 60" x  72"
baby: 36" x 36"

Last but not least we have Rising Star
This is another quilt pattern that uses most of the ombre colors.
Notice the background? Yep! Sand does it again! Just enough variation to make it AWESOME background fabric! You're welcome (ha!) This quilt pattern highlights my favorite star. The sawtooth star. It's really a gorgeous quilt, and the ombre fabric makes it look like you are using so many more fabrics than what you really are! This is one of my favorite things about the ombre fabric, that and that it looks almost hand dyed when you piece with it traditionally.

This quilt comes in three different sizes as well:
large: 72" x 88"
medium: 56" x 72"
baby: 48" x 48"

V and Co.: Quilt Spring Market

So I'm finally getting around to showing off some pictures of Spring Quilt Market.
I was showing off the second half of my Simply Colorful line. (green, blue, purple)

and I was also showing off my new Aurifil Thread collection to go with the books and the fabric.
And of course the books!
Me right after my school house feeling very relieved. AmyLouWho made my skirt AGAIN! LOVE YA AMY!

I did a schoolhouse on how to market your Simply Color Books in your store. (thank you Amy for my skirt!!) They are a wonderful key of information on how to use the color wheel and how to empower your customer in learning how to pick fabric on their own. I'll be doing a whole blog post on this here, the store owners were very excited to hear how this book not only has 6-7 projects in each book, but it also has beautiful photography, AND it's a great teaching tool for the customers needing a little help in understanding why certain colors go better together than others.
But not everything is work and work and work at market.
Basic Grey, Lella boutique, and Little Miss Shabby
Moda had a photo booth with props set up. And clearly I heard "make your best Valley Girl impression." and no one else did. I hung out with these three ladies the whole time. We were booth partners on the same wall. And this is hilarious...someone had a sick sense of humor and put Vanessa G and Vanessa C right next to each other. Every time someone would say "Vanessa…" both of us would look up like simultaneously. People were having a very fun time with it. And then by like the second day V squared got all:
Every time someone would mess with us...
and the horns came out. Kidding Vanessa and I had a lovely time being next to each other talking about how we were the only Vanessa's we knew growing up, and how our mom's came up with our names and such…by day 3 we actually got used to hearing our name and not both thinking it was us they were talking to. Not really we were not used to it but it was fun. :) I wouldn't mind being next to her again.

I always love being around Jen Kingwell. She's amazing and funny and nice and well amazing. I mentioned that right?
This quilt is on my to do list. it's cray-cray and I love it!!!!
This time around I roomed with Anna of Noodlehead. (this is her beautiful booth) she was debuting her book and her new fabric collection with Cloud 9 fabrics.
I also got to room with Amy of Diary of a Quilter, and Amanda of Crazy Mom Quilts.
We had quite the adventurous time…on saturday morning the whole hotel was evacuated and the firemen showed up. This is our "it wasn't me" picture, because we swear it wasn't us that set off the alarm. Apparently the sprinklers went off in a room…that's all I know. Though now that I think back on it Amy did leave before the firemen showed up…sooo yeah and she is kind of shifty that one...So yeah. May have to look more into that. Anyways, It was eventful and fun in and out of the convention center. :)
Butterfly kisses coming soon to the shop.
I have 4 new patterns releasing in the next couple of weeks.
I can't wait to show you. :)
Simply Color Purple Book in process and final stages...

But for now I am busy finishing up a few things here and there and finishing up the patterns…so back to that I go!

V and Co: What chocolate, a diet soda, and a good friend will get you

Well first off isn't Liz awesome? She's even funnier in person. My "shipping department" is pretty cool, and she's also a great friend. She saw how stressed out I was and even may have seen some tears when I listed off all the things I had agreed to do. This month is pretty much insane, (for me at least) between flying home for a family wedding, and teaching, and speaking at quilt guilds (hi ladies! can't wait to talk!), and deadlines for undisclosed places, and then add other deadlines that just pop up because when you first said "yeah, I can do that." you had no idea how insane your month was going to be. Add all other life things...and well Liz took one look at me and said "I have chocolate and diet drink. And do you want me to blog something for you?" I stared at her and said "What would you write about?"
She said "Well, we'll see what I can come up with. And we'll give it a shot and then go from there?"
So, she wrote a fun little blog post. And she's a great voice for my blog. Perhaps we'll have her come back for another blog post! :)

While she was blogging for me, I was able to piece, quilt,  and
bind my large one block version of my...
kaleidoscope quilt. Which btw I'm also teaching this class at my local quilt store  today and tomorrow!

I used my Ombre stripe fabric (coming to a quilt store near you soon! seriously like in a day or so)
so far I've made this large block in lime and the pink... and I can't wait to make it in the other color ways as well. I'm super SUPER excited about this fabric coming out!
Baby quilt size 40"x40" instructions coming to a magazine near you soon.
The pink version is completely done...and well lets just say I love it.
This newborn quilt pattern will be in a magazine soon with instructions included. I'll most definitely keep you posted...and I'll ALSO keep you posted on when you can watch me on a quilt show website with a really great and awesome lady. See, I may be stressed but it's all wonderful stress. And wonderful opportunities. I love what I'm doing. I promise to come by and pop in and just do an update of sorts, make sure to write about my funny crazy when I'm not sewing stories as well...so that way I can look back and smile at my timeline of events and well, maybe use this spot as a "journal" of sorts...kind of like I used to.
Everything will be alright. Sometimes we just need a little bit of chocolate, a diet drink, and a great friend to tell you "It's okay." :)
Thanks for reading.
We'll talk soon. Promise. (okay, but I didn't pinky swear so it might be Liz or me, depending on how well the chocolate works with getting me through all the other promises I've made!)

a little love

i heart you quilt pattern and textured pillows pattern braided pillow shown
Well! I do have to say that you guys were cracking me up on the last post with some of the crap your kids have said! WOW!!!! Fantabulous! And thanks for making me laugh!!

So with Valentine's being kind of around the corner I thought I would do a little highlight on my I heart you pattern.

This pattern was created with my pink ombre fabric. But you don't have to use it if you don't want to! If you want to buy my pink ombre fabric find it here , and here. I would also check your local quilt stores! I have a little left I'm hoarding, till I can add it again to another fabric line (ahem a little forshadowment!)
It's created using HST (half square triangles.) And a whole heck of a lot of chain piecing. Personally I love chain piecing because I can sit and power through a lot of blocks and feel totally accomplished when it's all said and done.

This quilt comes in two sizes one is 54" x 54" (shown and yes! It totally hangs in my daughter's room when it's not traveling with me to trunk shows and lectures) and a HUGE one of 108" x 108" which would be perfect for snuggling with your loved one (or ones...as is the case with us because our kids end up crawling into bed with us in the mornings...)
faux pleated pillow featured from the textured pillows pattern

And for a limited time I'm offering a 30% off discount on this PDF pattern. Just enter LOVE30 at the check out for instant gratification of downloading the pattern and saving money while doing so. :)
Don't  want to spend money? Or can't?? It's okay, I totally hear ya! So, here's a few free past valentines V and Co. tutorials.

I'm getting ready for my turn on the Vintage Block Revival tour tomorrow. Also I'm working on a couple of free tutorials, a couple new patterns, and a new line for the fall, and a HUGE project. So yes, you'll be hearing from me. :)
Oh and of course I have a few more stories to tell...we'll talk soon
