sytyc, etsy update, baptism, family, friends, gingerbread man and box tops...oh my

hi there!
first things first: go here to check out the projects for the new theme "gifts" for this week at sytyc. we're down to the wire. only 4 of us left, competition is fierce, (not really we all really like eachother and hope the other one wins and we've all become closer friends through the process.) but it is down to the wire. who will go home this round? yikes!!!

second, you can now purchase my argyle scarf pattern here (keep the pictures coming of your finished ones! they are turning out awesome!!!) and if things run super smooth and i somehow manage to get a few extra hours here and there this week i'll be updating my etsy shop with a few more things. but that's only if the stars, moons, and waste matter, all aligns right. if not this week then by next week i should have a few new things going on there.

when i asked you guys to see if you wanted to play and send in gingerbread sightings...i.had.no.idea of the response.
wow.
not only was he seen all over the united states, he went abroad as well.
i have to admit i was a little jealous that he was spotted on top of the Eiffel tower, or that he was seen surfing, or hanging out with ichiro of the seattle mariners, and then went to georgia tech to hang out with buzz. we even got an autographed photo.
nice.
my kid knew how cool he was when he came home with a back pack stuffed full of postcards, cards, envelopes, and pictures (some with photoshoped images of the little dude doing some fun stuff)
you guys are awesome. and we thank you. and the school kindergarten thanks you too!

and speaking of the school thanking you:
you guys also have sent in to help out our little school with box tops. last count the office gave me was close to 400 box tops.
the principle would like to thank you for your time and postage to send in them box tops to our little school.
seriously, not only that but i've gotten emails with suggestions of other programs, and some great fund raising ideas. THANK YOU.
we're hoping to to a community garage sale this coming spring where everyone in our community will donate garage sale item things and with the sales we make we hope to continue to increase our amount of money to go towards getting our school an updated, and up to code playground for the kids!

new in my etsy shop

did you have a good thanksgiving weekend? ours was nice. really nice. we had good friends come over, and my turkey turned out ahem... awesome good and juicy. brining the turkey is the way to go! so thanks amy for showing me the ropes and telling me where to find recipes and instructions. we will do that from now on!
i'm doing an online holiday boutique that U-Create is putting on. such an awesome idea kari! and excited to be part of it!
so i made a new pdf file.
introducing strawberry shortcake with frosting.

the felt food craze has been around for a while, and i like it...but... i like how with fabric you have so many MORE options on shades, and design.
this pdf file will give you step by step instructions on how to make your short cake AND your frosting. which, by the way is detachable. so if your little one wants plain shortcake and no frosting...you can have that. or if you want to make lots of different shades or "flavors" of frosting...you can do that too!

katie's obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake right now. so i was inspired to make this cake to go along with her obsession. she's quite happy with how it turned out. and i have to admit, i love hanging out in her kitchen soooo much more than i do my own. mr. v and co. is sure that one day he's going to find me playing in her kitchen when she's not even involved. so far i've made sure to do such things when i know he's busy at work.
also last week the theme for sytyc was turkey. you were correct if you guessed the aprons as mine! i made it into the next round, phew! it's getting harder and harder to stay in! dana wowed us ALL with her absolutely gorgeous, worthy of being in a magazine as a gap ad skirt. i have to admit when she showed me the picture after we turned in our pictures, i just sat there and stared with my mouth open wide catching flies. seriously, amazing. what an honor to be in a contest with these talented women!
it feels like sudden death over there, we're down to just 6, i don't know how much longer i can keep this up! well, whatever the outcome, it's been a blast and i'm lucky to of made it this far!
now off to make something for this next weeks new theme! wish me luck.

now all your little one needs is some guests to arrive!
sure to be a crowd pleaser. for sure!
i know one little girl who can't get enough of it already.
i just hope my thanksgiving turkey looks as good as hers.

i got real nervous last night that no one was going to like the things i made...i got sick to my stomach, and then i thought "well if they don't like it then at least i have some new stuff for MY house."
and then i didn't feel like i wanted to throw up anymore.

i think my kids have been wiping their boogers on the couches.
they've been getting away with a lot these past two days.

so i'm off to register a kid for kindergarten.
yes, looking rather scary.
and then i'm coming home
i'm going to sweep up my house of strings, pieces of cut up fabric, and dirt from kids running in and out, in and out, in and out.
and then i'm going to take a shower.
i've been smelling something wierd and i'm starting to think it's me...
and then tomorrow, i think i'll clean, and scrape up some of the boogers off my couch.

gardening above 7000 ft

as much as the rain tried to derail our best efforts to start preparing for our garden this year, "we" (meaning my husband while i stood on the sideline and acted as cheerleader and took this picture) used the rototiller and started to prepare the ground. we live above 7000 ft area and so all the regular gardening rules don't apply to us. we're learning...and hopefully this year we will have a good trial run at this.

i've also been working my fingers off, trying to make sure i have more things in my shop. i'm still shooting for wednesday. so far some pillows and some table runners...still working on a few more things but we'll see if it all makes it this time.

i may have to do two big shop updates.

i'm off to vegas baby

for some nicer, warmer weather and to visit this cute little gal to have a girl's weekend. we're going to paint the town red (well the fabric stores and second hand stores) and she even promised me she would take me to TARGET. because i'm pretty sure that is what heaven is going to look like...a target store.

pillows sold...thank you (but there's more over there and i'm making more stuff for next week)more stuff has been added to my store...go check it out. i've been busy and i'm working on more stuff so more to come next week on that.
