fake forks vs real forks

GI Joe and i have been acting like 3 year olds over here. well, to give you an idea i'm going to do a "conversation with GI Joe" if you will.
let me set the stage: go back um almost two weeks ago right before GI Joe came home and a week after i left washington to visit him. i believe it was a sunday night when i got the phone call it went a little like this:

GI joe: dude you are so going to owe me big time!
ME: oh yeah what for?
GI Joe: i went to forks for you!
ME: WHAT?! SERIOUSLY? grinning ear to ear
GI JOE: yeah, it was probably one of the most embarrassing things i've ever done. i dragged three other soldiers with me...
Me: oh man! thank you sooo much did you get pictures?
GI Joe: OF COURSE! but dragging the the guys out there wasn't the worst part.
me: what could of been worse than being made fun of for driving 3 hours to a little town because your wife really loves a made up vampire?
GI Joe: I had to sit there and listen to the whole shpeal and listen to the tour with three little teeny boppers who kept giggling every time the lady said "edward" or "cullens" and i tagged along with them while they giggled and we all took pictures together.
ME:oh man i DO owe you big time!
now flash forward to right after his homecoming and everyone being all happy...
GI Joe: here are the pictures of Forks
Me: downloading them onto the computer
GI Joe: you so owe me...
ME: staring at the pictures Uh no i don't...those aren't the right pictures. you've been had...
GI Joe: uh no YOU've been had! those are the right pictures!
ME: no they aren't
GI Joe: yes they are.
Me: uh NO they aren't. i don't know what these pictures are but they are not the houses that were in the movie!
GI Joe: well maybe they didn't film it in Forks.
ME: flabbergasted that he would even say such a thing uh Yeah they did...i'll call reader Julie, she knows EVERYTHING twilight!
GI Joe: go ahead i dare you
Me : on the phone with reader julie uh yeah did they film twilight in forks? me looking all smug at GI Joe husband
Me: oh i see okay, thanks. not wanting to turn around to look at GI Joe
GI Joe: chuckling what'd she say?
Me: it wasn't filmed in forks
GI Joe: you soooooooooooo owe me...and you are going to post these on your blog...
ME: ugh
SO this is for you GI Joe husband (to stop your incessant "so i see you haven't posted the fork pictures yet"): fake forks vs real forks
fork's high school in the movie real high school in forks

fake bella swan house from the movie.

"real" bella house in forks

fake cullen house from the movie...now brace yourself...

um not even tripping on acid "real"cullen house in forks...

so there you have it...what GI Joe husband and i have been arguing about for a week now.

Ahh, real life is so much better in the movies. You've got the best husband to sacrifice himself for the good of your blog. Give him a kiss and tell him thank you from your faithful readers. Mimi

Poor V, having gone to high school in a poor little podunk Washington town, I knew you were in for a surprise. My brother-in-law's little brother plays football against Forks High school and lemme tell you, it ain't pretty. On that note, I've been to Port Angeles, too, and it's not exactly the metropolis the book paints it out to be, either. They'd have been better off just driving to Tacoma or Olympia for prom dress shopping.

But that was very brave of your husband to drag other GI's along on a teenybopper tour!

That is hilarious. I don't think Shawn would have ever done that! I'm laughing out loud while reading this and telling him he has to come read what Christenson did for his wife! Way to go Jake!

A few years ago, I was really excited when "My Name is Earl" was going to be at Frostburg State University (my alma mater). It was soooo fake I could have screamed. Instead of a little university in the mountains, it looked like ... well, it looked like a university in California. :-( (Although they did have the halls properly named.)

hahahaha.

dying here.

the movie was filmed in oregon!!!
seriously.
because the real forks couldn't house all the shooting they wanted to do.
but since oregon has the same weather conditions are feel of the land, they went there.
yeah.

okay so now that you really know i'm the hugest twilight dork on the planet, i'm gonna go.

and jake...you SO rock for dealing with the fangirls!!!
tehehe.
{i think you owe him big time vanessa. haha.}

Since I haven’t read it either, I was wondering why you were talking about silverware or plastic ware, but I’m not as cleaver as Blue Ridge Gal. Personally, I thought the real was cuter.

That was a great post!

I loved the pictures, and I agree with Lisa - I like the real locations better. They portray the small, unknown town that was the Forks Stephanie described. I did love the movie anyway, though. :)
What fun to read about your husband and his buddies going to Forks, with accompanying giggling teeny-boppers!

Ha!
I've not seen the movie yet, sadly it didn't last very long in the cinema here in the UK so I never got a chance. I hoovered up the books though, they were awesome.

The pictures are fab! In fact Bella's house in "real Forks" looks much more like I imagined it to!

Love your blog

great post - totally new to your blog - but I am glad I am not the only grown woman who is obsessed with the cullens and forks. My sister and I talked about doing a girls weekend to Forks - we are to vegas instead - cause it's cheaper - but the fake Forks would be a much cooler place! :)

What a bummer! Sorry you didn't get pictures of the "real" fake forks.

I have one for you...

My husband, desperate for reading material on his looooong night shifts started reading my twilight books. He was even more hooked than I was!

He and my SIL have been planning our summer vacation to....FORKS! Now mind you, this was HIS idea, not mine. So I guess there will be disappointing Forks pictures on my blog in a few months too =0)

Sorry, I know you posted this so very long ago, but I am laughing so hard. I actually live somewhat near Forks, WA. I think the hype is hilarious, simply because it's "nowhere Forks". Sorry your expectations were not met, and I hope you continue to let your imagination win out over reality. Sometimes we need that in life!
