yes, she's here

frijoles (beans) are simmering, trader joe recycled shopping bags are all over my kitchen, organic meats, fruits and vegetables are in my freezer and refrigerator. katie hasn't touched the floor for more than two minutes in a row, univision has been found on our digital cable and my spanglish is flying all over the place.
yes, that can only mean one thing...
my mother is visiting.

pan de vonos
she makes these wonderful little breads that i grew up on.
my kids love it.
i love it.
my husband actually even made up a song about them...that's how much he loves them.

before she got here she asked me to reprogram her ring tone to something " latin".
i had calle ocho in mind but she beat me to it and figured out (all on her own) how to change it to one of the already programed ring tones in her phone.
reason for picking the ring tone:
in cute heavy south american accent
"it had latin in the title"

Ah V,
You must be the happiest woman. First your in-laws and now your mum is visiting. So fun. Love the pic of your little girl with your mom. Those pics and moments are so priceless.
I know what you mean about the cooking thing. Usually when we go visit my mom I ask her to cook plantains, rice and beans. And you know as I it's not just any rice and beans. AW man, it's soo good. Wish my mom lived closer.
Enjoy your time with her.

Did you say once that your mom has a blog? I seemed to vaguely remember something about it and went searching last week... but maybe I'm remembering something else.

Have a fun time!

ps. Do you know that you kill me with those red shoes every time you post something new and I have to look at them. Super, super cute. Know where I can find some?

Hope you have an awesome visit! It's nice to see a pic of your mom- so I have a face with the name. She always seems like a character when you talk about her on the blog. I'm lucky to see my mom every day, and sometimes I don't appreciate that- thanks for reminding me how special mommy/grandma is :)

Are these little breads chewy and a little cheesy? Because if they are I too grew up with them and I would LOOOOOVE the recipe (if your sweet mother is willing to share). We never made them at home, we always purchased them and we call them pan de queso. Anyway, my e-mail is warlat@yahoo.com.

Nothing better than mom's visiting! Abuela's are simply the best :)
