i love to repurpose sheets and table cloths, you know that. so when i found that $2 skirt i had sort of an idea that i could do something with it.
a.) i could take it in and make it fit me.
b.) i could make something else out of it.

okay so i already have a black and white skirt so the first option wouldn't be the best choice.
but then i remembered that i had just stumbled across this awesome blog
that repurposed a man's shirt into a little girl's dress.but then i remembered that i had just stumbled across this awesome blog
so i contacted dana asked her if i could use a picture and to link back to her. we got to emailing back and forth and swapping pictures of projects to come, we chatted quite a bit and what i came back from our emails is this:
not only is she INSANELY TALENTED.
her photography is AWESOME.
her tutorials are AWESOME.
her shop is AWESOME.
her kids are SUPER CUTE...
AND...not only is she amazing...she's super nice!
:)
so Dana, thanks for being such an inspiration to me (and to so many others!!) thank you for helping me think outside the box so that i could make this dress out of a $2 skirt.
i'm finishing the final instructions on how to make this dress. i should have it up in the next couple of days.

Wowsers that looks incredibly cute! I love your blog bytheway. very sassy. just the way i like my blogs.
Okay, thank you for the sweet, SWEET blog post. Wow. Way to make my week! Honestly, really cute of you.
And your dress? IS ADORABLE. And those pictures? she's a doll. I like the finish on them. And I think they worked out great, despite whatever mood she said she was in. Really cute. That dress makes me want to twirl through a grassy field in the middle of nowhere (and then go swimming in a lake). So picturesque.
Thank you for sharing!
I've loved getting to know you too! :)
Love Katie's dress. I had guessed you would re-size the skirt for yourself. How creative you are. And, your photography is amazing also. So, list yourself among those Awesome, talented people.
That is BEAUTIFUL!!! I too assumed that you would re-size the skirt but this is just perfect! What a well suited print to the pattern! And what a well suited little girl to wear it :)
I expected to just see it resized but a dress?! Insane! Love it!!
That dress is fantastic. Will make me look twice when in an op-shop instead of just lokking at the craft/fabric/sheet sections.
I love it! I have a skirt waiting for me to make something out of it too! Greet job!

Right now i'm in the middle of making my girl a dress out of a women's shirt...but I'm stuck. Time to improvise I suppose:) Oh, and I just LOVE that dress you made for your girl . So sweet. so feminine.

Love it -- and thanks for the link to Dana!
Okay, so if I had a little girl, I would be making this item right now! And could you have asked for a better skirt!?? I think not! That scalloped bottom adds so much detailing that you could've never done by hand (okay, maybe YOU could've but I couldn't!) :)
Anyway, as usual, adorable. Your blog is my absolute number one favorite craft blog out there. :)

Oh I love this, I can't wait for the tut. I own a bow/tutu business and can just imagine the bows to make to match with an idea like this.
