everywhere we have lived there have been special women that have come into my life, most of you are a product of that, and some are wonderful women i've never met face to face, but from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU for your friendships they mean the WORLD to me. being the special women that i know you are i need to ask for a special request. your prayers for this wonderful little girl not yet two years old. her mom is a wonderful woman just like all of you, she loves her children and her youngest Alissa, has just been diagnosed with cancer. they cannot operate on her tumor because it has grown around her spine and one of her intestines, she's going to go through kemo (sp?), and they hope this will help shrink the tumor. another wonderful woman and myself are making a quilt for her today, so i'll be gone for a while, doing that, we hope to have it for her when her aunt goes up to primary childrens on friday. please keep alissa and her family in your prayers, i'll be getting her blog and post it as soon as i can. i'm sure the family wont mind all the prayers out there. really makes me count my wonderful blessings of waking up to the same ol same ol of our house, and makes me really think of what an amazing little girl (and family!) this is to of taken on this huge thing in such an early stage in her life.

Count me in!!That is such hard stuff--one thing I love about you is that you are soo selfless. In all your struggles with life and things right now, you never fail to get back up and help someone else. I admire you!
How sad!!! I will definitely pray for Alissa and her family. The quilt is a nice idea.

Anyway, I have a question about your token system. I have 3 boys (7,5, and 3) and I've never been able to figure one thing out about this type of system. What do you do when one of your boys uses his tokens to play on the computer, and the other boys want to watch? Does the computer boy have to be in a separate room? Do the boys pay to watch him play on the computer?
With 3 boys so close in age, I have a hard time keeping them from barging in on each other's activities. I've never quite figured out how to measure the time they spend watching their brother play video games, or split the cost of watching TV together. Help!

you are not barging at all thanks for looking at my blog, and a friend of felicia is a friend of mine, as for the computer games, and the tv watching, i find it that it's okay that the other boy watches, because i find that they are not the one "doing" the activity, so therefore the one doing the activity should be the one paying for it. as for watching tv, my boys after a while were trying to convince the other one to use their tokens for the tv watching (that also means that the one paying got to pick what they were watching) after a while they didn't want to waste tokens on watching tv, so watching tv is actually a BIG deal now. and rarely happens. i do reward them sometimes on saturday morning with a cartoon that i know all of them will like, 30 minutes usually tops. but that's only if they have had an awsome week at school and they have been kind to eachother. seems to been a bumpy road at first but now i love that we actually started this and i've stuck with it! right now my kids have been trying really hard to get 100 tokens so that when we go to walmart they get to "spend" their tokens on a toy.

rachel, i actually feel so blessed that my trial is just that my husband is away, i don't know what i would do if my little one was going through this, i guess i would feel selfish not helping somehow, my trial right now seems so small compared to alissa's mom! thank you for the compliment though! you are pretty great yourself!
mindy, felicia picked out the fabrics, it's sooo cute, and it was super fast to do, we did it all this afternoon. i'll try to post a picture when she finishes quilting it!

Vanessa, sorry I did not get back yesterday but we are praying. After our experience at Children's last September I find myself praying for sick babies a lot. We all know how hard parenting is and adding the sorrow of illness on top of that seems almost unbearable. Bless their entire family! And bless friends like you that are right there helping out.
We had a peg system when our kids were growing up for chores and also use to charge for TV before it got stolen and then we just didn't replace it. Their nickels and dimes went towards our Disneyland trips. We had a little TV (7 inch screen)in our laundry room after that and if you watched...you folded. All of these things helped a lot. It is amazing what little kids can do if they are motivated.
We will keep her in our prayers. What else can we do. I've got 3 kids who have love just bursting from their seams! What can we do to pass it on?
Isn't it alwasy the case that when we are focused on someone else, our problems just seem to melt away.
hmm let me think if there's anyway that i can get her address at primary children's, but yes i think kid art would be WONDERFUL! don't you? let me see if i can talk to her aunt and see if i can post her address and see if she thinks that would be a good idea. thanks kate and kids!
