the perfect day

in attempt to simplify my life i've decided that having a cleaning schedule that starts from the minute we finish breakfast till about 10 am everyday would be a great start to tackle the house simplifying part. this summer i finally got back to it. it's a routine i've done for years (and yes i've started to right a few posts on it...i just have to keep typing out the ideas as i get a few minutes here and there, so expect that sometime soon) but as of late it seems to of taken the back burner as other things and needs kept getting added more and more in my life.
but like i said, i'm getting back to the basics.
so we've seen our household chores actually getting done and not only that, but because we get the daily chore and the everyday stuff done by 10 am mon thru fri...we've actually opened up the rest of the day to do whatever we want.
yesterday was the epitome of the perfect day for me.
*chores were done at record speed. so we added a few unexpected chores.
*the weather was in the high 80s low 90s. that makes my crankies go away for sure.
* went to the pool most of the day. tired children, clean house behind, awesome situation.
* appliqued while kiddos swam themselves tired in the pool. that means i'll be able to do a shop update in the "near sometime" future
*got to talk and laugh with other mommies at the pool. so i don't forget how to talk to adults.
*it was thursday so it was pizza night...i didn't have to cook.
*10 year old got his webelos. holy crap the kid is getting old
* on our way home from scouts i took this picture of katie. i'm going to frame it.
sigh...i love summer.
this weekend looks like it's going to be a promising one as well. i'll make sure to take pictures.
who knows i may even get some more appliqueing done while the husband we watch a guy movie.
i'm such an awesome wife.

have a great weekend.
we'll talk soon.
;)

are you watching Avatar this weekend too?? I plan on finishing the binding on Maggie's quilt tonight! I like the idea of this morning cleaning. I need to do something like this. As it is, I end up on the computer while the kids make a mess! Plus I'm not really done unpacking and organizing yet. BUT, Maggie is sleeping all night for about a week and I'm feeling more normal. See, I'm even posting lengthy comments on friend's (who I have neglected!) blogs!! xoxo

You just gotta love scouts!! My oldest is going to scout camp as of Monday and will be gone for a week! This will be a first, he's never been away for that long.

We have been spending our days in the pool as well and I'm so liking the whole chores done by 10! I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it goes over. :)

PS. I love LOVE love that picture.

I love your simple posts. The ones just about life and being a mom. They are my fav. Don't get me wrong, I always enjoy a good tutorial, but I really enjoy posts about everyday life. I can relate with that.

Lovely picture of your Katie! Very good idea about the cleaning 'til 10! I might try that! It will be ok for now in the summer, but when school starts back up in August, then we might have to switch it to cleaning from 7:00-7:30 p.m.

Great photo! Definitely deserves to be framed.

So how long is from end of breakfast to 10 am? As a working mom, I'm always looking for short-cuts to keep the house clean. I keep trying cleaning schedules but when I'm the only one sticking to them they tend to fail quickly. I'm thinking I need a daily rotation that only takes about 30 minutes max. With maybe some longer time on the weekends... All that to say, please share! I'm always looking for new ideas! : )

LOVE those pictures.

I wish I had my cleaning schedule set...not just for the house, it is 1:30 and still have not showered.

I wish I LOVED the summer as much as you did. AND I wish I had a pool so nearby that didn't cost me an arm and a let (let's face it I already look odd enough in a swimsuit, I don't need to add missing appendages).

Here's to another perfect summer day!

So jealous :) I like your chores plan. I'd love to know how you set it up. I keep struggling to find a plan we can stick with at our house.

I look forward to seeing a post about the schedule. I'm horrible at schedules. I guess not really...I suppose everyone has a natural schedule. Mine is just kind of lazy and I need a starting point/goal.

My son is now a Webelos too. He is growing up way to fast for me. I can't believe in 2 more years he will be a Boy Scout.

I too, have gotten into a new routine and it is working out great. I have so much more time. Love it. I got to take a nap today. It was awesome!
Happy summer!

Gorgeous pictures. SOunds like a perfect day indeed. I do the cleaning in the morning too. It makes me feel much more energized and free the rest of the day, instead of having all kinds of lists of chores in my head all day that I really should be doing, but seem to get less and less energy for during the day. It works perfectly for me too!

I felt relaxed just reading about your day. We just moved to Texas from Utah and I miss the weather already. Pizza night rocks.

I miss those days! Your life sounds like my life 17 years ago when my kids were little. I would do the same thing...get up early, do chores, and off to swim for the rest of the day. I would come home, they would sleep, and I would sew. Those days were perfect!
