overheard at the dinner table

same kid that said this...
gave the prayer last night over my home cooked dinner his prayer went like this:

10 year old: "thank you heavenly father for this food, please bless it that it will not cause us harm or accident, and help it give us the nutrition we need. in the name of Jesus Christ...AMEN"

giggles were had all around the table.
and some tears...mine... but only because i was trying real hard not to laugh so hard during the prayer.

;)

That was so funny! There must be something in the air tho, my son as been saying some crazy stuff as well lately. We walked into a rental property that was full of other people looking as well and my son says at the top of his lungs "WHAT IS THAT SMELL?! WHO FARTED?! IF YOU NEED TO GO POOP JUST GO! DONT FART IT OUT!" I almost died........... He is four by the way, lol, still learning to put a fliter on it.

Exactly what did you cook that he was so worried about?

Got to love those kiddos. I adore reading things that kids say. Out of the mouth of babes.

I made two little cotton print summer skirts today and thought of you. $12.00 fabric & $1.00 elastic. About six hours sewing.
Result~two sweet skirts. One for me and one for my daughter. Not bad=$6.50 each!

Enjoy your summer days. Dogwood

A few nights ago our three year old randomly inserted the word "butt." So we got something like "We thank butt for food butt.

Yeah, I wasn't too successful at stuffing a laugh there too.

My little girl, 3 night ago said the prayer. Usual, nothing too funny. "Amen" we all said and commenced with eating. Her forked falls and she clasped her little hands together and says "I forgot something!" Ok, we all put down our forks and folded hands ... She says, "God, please bless Clay because he gave bubby a loaner car. Amen." Clay is a neighbor boy and my twins were playing at their house. When I picked them up to leave, my son could not find his toy car. So Clay said he would find it and bring it to him. He gave him one of his toy cars until he found my son's. What a nice boy.

Your post made me smile!

Hugs & stitches,
Jennifer

I would have died laughing myself. Where do they GET this stuff? :)

Lol. Having sweets at YW activities (i.e. donuts or brownies) I wouldn't say "please bless it would nourish and strengthen our bodies" because let's face it, they won't. I said once "please bless that they will taste good" instead. The leader who made them got offended that I thought she was a bad cook or something lol. I'm sure your dinner wasn't junk food though!

When I was growing up, my little sister blessed the food one night and said "Please help it to nourish and strengthen our bottoms" instead of bodies... I'm pretty sure none of us could keep a straight face! Kids are too fun. :)

LOVE! it is SO hard not to laugh at prayers sometimes!!! my oldest daughter used to say a prayer for a while when she was about 3..... "please bless Nala killed the rabbit"..... Nala was our dog, and she did in fact kill a rabbit and that is how little eva "prayed" for the dead rabbit. i keep a quote book for each kid and evey once and a while we read it for a bedtime story...
