it just wasn't completely right

one thing is for sure: take a picture of your room and everything you like about it will be highlighted as well as everything you DON'T like about it.
it was all bugging me and i didn't know how to make it better. so i started to play with things.
one thing that bugs me is the green wall. i want it tan. mainly because it's the past owners green wall not mine. when i get to it i think it will make my room look a little more like what i am envisioning.

i looked all around to see what i could do and i came up with this for now. baskets on the wall like in my laundry room. the serving plate's been around for a while but i spray painted it white so it would go with the neutral theme i was going for.

the quilt was bugging me too so now it rest nicely on the chair ready for use when the fall and winter months hit. the wreath i hung from the rack i think helps not take away from the armoire.

all is now well in my picture. for the time being that is. (well except for the cords that i'm working on disguising by the armiore.)
have a great weekend.
we get another one at home and let me tell you we're relaxing this time around!

Wow! If you've got any free time, maybe you can come to Virginia and help me with my living room. I liked the 'before' picture and I like the 'after' too! Glad you found something your happy with... for now =)

Funny how we are so critical when it comes to our own spaces - I thought it was great before and like it now too - looks great!

I liked the before better, but I understand how we all have our own likes and dislikes, and what makes us comfortable or not. Either way, it looks great!
be blessed,
Michelle

I like your way. Will you come decorate my house?

Both ways are very pretty.
I thing I liked most from the before look was your quilt hanging up.

I am new to your blog...I think that room looks beautiful and I actually love the green wall. I think it goes so nicely with your quilts. Your pinwheel quilt is just gorgoeous!

I like what you did with the room! And I've got tan bedroom walls the past owners had that I want painted a pale blue so I understand. It's getting painted in the fall for sure!

I love it--what color and type of paint did you use for the platter?

Your room makeover is lovely and I like the change of color on your armoire. I also like your green wall, it's so cheerful and bright, but I too understand how when we want another color we aren't satisfied until we get it. I like to paint and watch how the room comes to life with a new color. Enjoy your beautiful space.

LOVE the new look! looks like it came straight from a magazine! Maybe I should take a pic of my living room and then I could figure out what exactly is bugging me about it! Great job!

It was cute before, now it's just stepped up a notch. You've got the touch. Mimi

I liked it before, but I like it even better now! You really have "that" touch and I love seeing all the different things you do with your house! Thanks for introducing me to Krylon indoor/outdoor spray paint! I bought a shelf at Goodwill that needed painting and that Krylon made it look superb! Without sanding or anything. Just a quick wipe down with a rag.
Have a fun relaxing weekend!

I liked it before and now. Change is good....equally both beautiful. As my DH always says, "As long as your happy."

As a former interior designer, I'd say you've really gone about your room design in a fabulous way! If you can choose your favorite color from your quilts (possibly a predominant color you seem always to choose...) and put some solid accents around, such as narrow felt pillows with buttons, a vase with red (if that's your color..) flowers, a red-painted long footstool....something like that, it will also bring your room together. You're doing a wonderful job! Love your quilts!!

I know you may not like the green from someone else, but green/aqua blue is so in right now....I like it!

I agree, the quilt looks better on the chair, and I love the way the wreath looks. I do like the green wall though. Oh, and I really like your couches how they are, but I'm sure they'd look nice recovered too. I think I'm going to start another pinwheel quilt, I like them so much I think I need one of each! (one with the white and one without I mean!)

love the room! Looks like a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of tea :-)

I like the quilt better on the chair, too.

Could you just use a white extension cord to plug your cords into & then run it along the baseboard to the outlet?

I think the light sage wall looks great with your color scheme! I wouldn't have thought that the color wasn't your choose. It give the room a nice inviting feeling.

there isn't a single thing in your room that i am particularily attracted to, BUT I am very attracted to the room as a whole and just want to stretch out on the sofa for a nice nap-
good job-

I love that big ol' wreath!

Well, I thought the original room was lovely but must agree that this is better. It is better balanced with the quilt on the chair and the white platter on the wall. It allows your eye to move through the room.
BTW, I like the green walls.
