on the 12th day of canning

my apple trees gave to me:

12 jars of apple pie filling (find recipe here)

11 jars of apple butter (find recipe here)
10 sticky fingers
9 cans of apple sauce (find recipe here)
8 new ways to use swear words
7 nights of hard sleeping

6 apple dumplings (find my sis in law HEATHER'S recipe here)
5 more apple fillings!
4 happy kids
3 apple turnovers
2 sore feet

and a wonderful home made apple pie!!!!

*****************************************************************************
after doing all of this i also got a box full of plums from a friend, i made plum raspberry jam, and plain plum jam...then another lady gave me a box full of peaches...where i accidentally left them behind at another friends' house.
i have caller id, i'm not answering my phone when it's her.
totally kidding.
i answered it and told her to do what she wants with them...
she gave them to another friend of ours.
i'm locking my doors and closing my blinds in hopes that i don't get any more fruit of ANY kind.

i'm so over canning...and so happy it only comes once a year.

i'm so ready to get back to sewing.

Oh how much fun is that! And delicious too. I am sure that your home smelled heavenly in these processes! :o) I have a freezer full of blueberries and crabapple just waiting to be canned! Only we are waiting for cooler days. :o)
Have a beautiful day.
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Ps. Is it still ok to purchase the pdf from you? I don't want to cause too much extra work.

Pss.
Have you ever cooked or baked persimons? I have a tree full and no idea what to do with them.

Apple butter? Is that something like apple jam? Never heard of it :-)

It looks all very yummy by the way!

You canned! You cooked! You baked! That pie looks awesome! But so does everything else. I'm jealous! Not one ounce of canning this year. Not one. I'm so going to miss it over the winter. Kudos to you! ;o) ooxx

V,
you crack me up girl and all those apple pie desserts in beautiful color so early in the morning is making me hungry. I haven't even eaten breakfast yet.
You been busy for sure and are over canning, but you will enjoy the "fruits" of your labor during the winter. (haha, pun intended)
have a blessed day!

Everything you made looks so good! I've really been wanting to learn how to can, it actually seems like something I'd really enjoy! I think you've inspired me to start looking around the Internet for good beginner tips again!

Such a cute post! I love how you tied it in with the 12 days. Made me laugh.
I'd say that all of that work was definitely worth it! Everything looks yummy!
Now to put your feet up and make sure not to look at the canning stuff for another 12 months. ;)

Love it...especially the swear words. Did you give the peaches to Amy who gave them to Andrea? Poor Andrea ended up with three boxes.

Can you post your apple dumpling recipe? They look like little pockets of goodness I want in my belly!

Looks like lots of hard work and a lot of fun at the same time! I wish I knew how to can...I have always wanted to learn. It all looks so yummy and your pie is beautiful!

My mom makes a plum raspberry jam using JELL-O. We've never been able to get it to really thicken up but the flavor is divine!

Everything looks so good.

those look so yummy! I want to learn how to can, but don't want to go to the store and buy everything. When I buy a house I will plant berries and fruit trees.

Wow, now that is alot of apples! Everything you made looks super yummy but I think the pie looks the best! It is a very good looking apple pie.

I bet it was hard work making all that, but you are going to be thankful in the coming months when you have all of that stuff right at your fingertips!

You were just kidding before when you said you didn't cook right? I'm so impressed, it all looks delicious! Too bad two weeks worth of slaving in the kitchen doesn't get us off for the rest of the year.

*yes it was andrea (poor thing)
*no i have no idea what to do with persimmons, i would just suggest googleling it (like i did for a lot of my stuff)
* apple butter is really smooth apple sauce with a lot of spices that you spread on toast.
*and the apple dumplings recipe is my sis in laws and i'll get that for you guys
*no i'm not an avid cook, but i'm trying to try something new this year.
* yes this is my first experience canning.
thankfully it only comes once a year so i will forget how much work it is...kind of like delivering a baby. if we all had to do it right after we just did it, we would all end up only getting pregnant once!

Mmmmm yummy. I wish I had all those canned and baked goodies. Yeah we ate all the apples we picked. Maybe next year.

Seriously that pie looks awesome.

We love fall.

I finally finished the last of my canning last night. This year I've canned 2 kinds of jam, peaches, pears, and TONS of applesauce. I'm so glad it's done!!! I wish I had taken the time to make some pie filling like you did. It looks so yummy!

Good for you! It all looks so pretty! I think I'm trying to ignore the fact that I should do some canning.

I am feeling the same way. When my hubbie told me he picked another box of apples from our tree, I almost cried.

My parents are in Utah and have 6 peach and 3 pear trees in their yard.. you remind me of my Mom a bit during this time of the year... she always says "I'm sooo sick of looking at peaches!". But then she is nice and mails me a box of peach jam & peach pie filling :-) and come January there is yummy stuff to eat in the freezer.

Those apple turnovers and dumplings look soooo good! You should do a pie dough tutorial. I'm pie dough impaired.
Thanks for your kind words today!
Melissa

v, you are fabulous. thanks for sharing your life with the rest of us. i just wanted to know what you do with your canned pie filling? just make pies or do you have other recipes? just wondering if i should can some too! thanks.

V and Co. said...

you can give it away as presents for teachers and neighbors for christmas or you can make apple turnovers with them as well!
also you can heat it up and eat it with vanilla ice cream and that is just as good as a pie!!!

Darlingest blog ever!!!!!!!! I am sending your blog over to a couple of friends. They let me find the great ones, and then they traipse on over. Though my apple pie and applesauce are killer, I've always wanted to learn to can the filling and make apple and pumpkin butters. So many things to sew and bake and frolick in!

Mel said...

Oh YUM! I can't wait to bake this weekend - you have inspired me!!
Thanks!

I am soooooo crazy jealous!!

I've been dying to pick apples, but don't have an apple tree and there's no where around here that lets people pick them.
