i made this skirt out of a table cloth that was on clearance.did you read that amy?
no posiblities of sweaty hairy men on this skirt!
i think it was the martha stewart christmas collection at kmart.
i saw the pattern on it and thought it would make a really cute something or other.
now if i have made a handkerchief and put it on my head i would look like i belong in a tree singing "doe-a-deer, a female deer!"but because i didn't, i think it turned out a little less sound of music-ish
while in the middle of making it, i thought to myself "should of made a tutorial out of this." well i think i will, but it has to wait till next week sometime when i go back to the "big" town and get me another table cloth. so stay tuned for a tutorial on how to make this skirt.
oh and did you notice the legs?
not so pasty eh?
yeah been working in the garden so freakin' much that they don't have a choice.

Seriously I really like it. Can't wait for a tutorial. I am always afraid to try to sew a skirt because I do not own a serger (I would not know how to use it if I owned one either).

Much better as a skirt than a table cloth...I think it wouuld have had to be made out of drapery material, or carpeting or something, to qualify as Sound of Music worthy.

That is SO adorable. Please post a tutorial!! I tried to make a skirt a while back out of some vintage fabric and it was an utter disaster. Your skirt looks much easier and much cuter. :)

Very cool, chic-y skirt! I've been making tube-like skirts with elastic band at the top & wonder if you do yours the same. Oh wait, you mentioned a martha stewart pattern...ooooer...I'm bad with patterns! I try to make-do with my very simple basic versions. Would love to hear what's beneath that white T-shirt - I mean the type of waistband you did :) .
I'm a big sound of music fan, so the "clothes out of drapes" look has always been appealing to me. Now all you need to do is make some leider-hosen out of the table cloth for your boys and you will have a matched set!
