tutorial: baby doll quilt
here are the basic instructions to make this baby doll quilt
what you will need:
18 squares of white fabric cut to 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches
18 squares (two of each fabric to be used in each pinwheel block) of patterned fabric
2 strips of white cut to 3 by 10 inches
2 strips of white cut to 3 by 15 inches
2 strips of red gingham cut to 1 by 15 inches
2 strips of red gingham cut to 1 by 16 inches
2 strips of white cut to 1 1/2 by 16 inches
2 strips of white cut to 1 1/2 by 18 inches
you will want to follow the directions on how to make a pinwheel.
instead of starting out with 5 inch blocks (like i had you do in the big size quilt) you are going to start with 2 1/2 inch blocks.
make 9 pinwheels
next we are going to make the borders:
for the left and right side of your quilt you need two strips of white cut to 3 by 10 inches
sew it to your left and right side.
next take your 2 strips of 3 by 15 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt
next we are going to do the red border:
take your 2 strips of 1 by 15 inches and sew them to your left and right side of your quilt.
take your 2 strips of 1 by 16 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt.
next we are doing the outside (and last) border:
take your two strips of 1 1/2 by 16 inches and sew them to the left and right of your quilt.
take your two strips of 1 1/2 by 18 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt.
make a sandwich of quilt top, batting, and backing fabric.
quilt or tie.
bind your quilt!

How cute! I'm a beginning quilter, so this is a perfect project for me to complete for my 1 year old granddaughter. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial.
I think I'm going to take my bigger scraps and make one each for my nieces!
Super cute indeed.
The pattern and lightness reminds me that spring will arrive... sooner or later.
Adorable little quilt! Your red second border and green binding really make it! Thanks for the tutorial!
I have something like this drafted out for a wallhanging for a friend. Now I don't have to figure the rest of it out - I'll just follow your instructions!
The doll quilt I purchased in your shop is a favorite here and always noticed by other Moms.

How did I miss this tutorial??? I have been checking every day-oops! I am giddy with excitement--THANK YOU!
On another note, I found out that you know Melissa Neddo who I know from when she lived in Michigan (I am still here; she has moved.) I am reminded what a small world it is! I love the blogging world!
Thank you!!
Thanks for the tut, I love pinwheels, this is very sweet!
You probably don't know this, but you're my own private sewing teacher (and totally free!). Thank you, thank you for this tutorial. It's just what I needed to 'get my feet wet' in quilting. My daughter loves it! I posted a pic on my blog if you'd like to see. Have a blessed day!
