second hand re-creation

while in my cleaning organizing fit, i've been able to move things around and re-create with some second hand stuff that wouldn't normally go together.
i took my thrift store find silver basket, and my thrift store find glass candle stick holder (total cost $1.00)

and created my new center piece for my dining room table.
simple.
cheap.
and in my eyes
perfect.

well almost...i'm in search of a short metal candle stick so i can crazy glue it together. you know because of the high population of male noisemakers in my home...glass not good.

ps tutorial for my doll quilt will be up soon probably tomorrow. and i'm still working on some new stuff for my shop. we've been hit with the flu so things have been pushed back. currently i'm under a mountain of folded laundry.

oh and there's a sponsored giveaway on monday.
yeah, we'll talk soon.

Love it!!!
I especially love the rust/wear & tear on the basket. Looks great.
I understand the need to get rid of the glass, but it sure looks good.

Super cute!!

You said you are looking for a metal candle stick.. I have seen lots of projects where people create their own holders of sorts and use a heavy duty clear drying glue to put the two pieces together. Is that the kind of glue you're referring to? If so, do you know what brand works well? Good luck on your quest though!!

Thank you!!

It's really cool-lookin' V. I really love the fabric underneath it too.

I've discovered that I can find things at the thrift store finally--only it's a bad thing because now I fill my house with all my millions of finds. ;) You know the "one in, on out" theory? I have it backwards--I drop off a load and then go in and buy more--like more than the amount I dropped off. It's sickness.

Looks great! I like those bowls. My thrift has a couple but I havent picked one up yet.

Don't limit yourselt to a candle stick. :) I did something similar with a silver vase. I poured some sand in the bottom of the vase so it had some weight in the bottom and wouldn't tip as easy. I love the openness of the bowl you found. You have a good eye!

That is soooo pretty!!!! What if you found a similar vessel made of a clear plastic? A silver base would be very nice but I like that glass there. Makes the basket look all floaty!

Hope everyone feels better soon.

All I can say is, at least your laundry is clean and folded. I'm running out of clean undies...

Love the centrepiece. And love the price! Genius!

Love it! As usual. Hope your crew feels better quickly (and hope you survive your laundry--seriously, does it breed when we're sick? Sure seems that way to me!)

I like the colors you are using to decorate your house. Very clean and elegant-looking. I'm going to add you to my favorites so I can see more of your beautiful creations.

Will keep my eyes open for a metal candle stick out here! :o)

Awesome, Vanessa! Is there no end to your talents and imagination? We went to a glass/ceramic factory in Nove, Italy and they sell pedestals just for this purpose. I didn't have a square inch left in the suitcases. Bummer!

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Love, B

Your fruit stand is just lovely - it looks like those 2 pieces were made for each other! I've linked this to my cake stands post too today, well done!
