i don't know if you can tell but i'm really into texture right now.
i'm working on a new moda bake shop project which has a lot of texture.
this little throw pillow is to go with katie's quilt cover i'm making for her toddler bed. it makes sense in my head, hopefully it works out in real life...we will see.
the boys had lots of fun "making stuff" which later was called "mom vacuming up a lot of little pieces of tissue paper..yay...fun". katie just thought it was fun to step and jump on it all the while screaming "oh no! oh no!" wierd girl.
my final product were these pom poms using this tutorial.
wonderful!
i've been eyeing the martha stewart pom poms but couldn't justify $10 for tissue paper. mine cost around $3 and could make 9. i only made six so i guess it cost me less than that...like... ouch my head hurts...use a calculator...$1.98.
but with the ones the boys used i guess that goes up to $3...still a bargain if you ask me.
"now that's a good thing"

I love them, and I am soo going to copy! I'm glad there are more creative people in the world 'cause I would never think of all these cute things. Thanks!
cute pillow! Are the blue pompoms on the pillow tissue or fabric though??? I'm assuming fabric but then what are you using the tissue pompoms for?
ok duh, should have followed the tutorial link before asking!! Just gorgeous nursery... might try these in the girls bedroom but in pinks and reds!!
Seriously Love! These are going into my daughter's college apartment, thanks!!!
Love the pom poms. So girly. I have seen her kits in the Michaels store and um yeah, I would be like you using a tutorial and buying my own tissue paper. : )
Is that type of texture on the pillow called rouching? Prounounced (roo shing) LOL, not sure if I spelled it right. Anyway, it looks very HIGH END. I like it.
You're killing me with those gorgeous white pillows and then that dash of robin's egg blue in the pom poms. I love them!!! Can't imagine that's a toddler bed, it looks so grown up. Lucky little lady you have on your hands.
Love the pillow! and the poms...i have been eyeing those also but could never break out the dough for them! So glad you made them....nothing better than getting what you want for a fraction of the price! Oh and that site where the pom tutorial is...fab!
what a cute pillow!
Love your pillows - love the texture and that they are white. Think it's going on my list of a million things I want to make.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that little white pillow. The little blue flowers are adorable and add just the perfect pop of color. You are just too good!
I love how the pillow turned out!The pom pom inspired texture is so clever and the white and blue combination is one of my favorites.
aaaaaaahhh...I found the Martha ones on clearance at Michaels, well actually my friend found them and bought them for me! Love them! We used them for a baby shower and now I am going to reuse them for my daughter's birthday. I can't wait to use the tutorial to make more in different colors! Woo!
super cute pillow and pom poms!
Love this post. Love the colors. Gorgeous! We made those pom pom's for a wedding a couple years ago. Tons of them! All different sizes. 2 different colors. Hung them from the ceiling. It was so Simply Awesome! ooxx`jod
Yes!!!!
you read my mind!
I've been thinking of making a nine patch square with the middle patch being rouched just like that! But I don't know how to accomplish it.
I haven't tried mind you as I've been finishing off my existing Old Red Barn quilt along, but maybe I should try to give it a go!
I originally came across my idea and was going to make a pillow like this to match...

Lovely pillow and adorable pom poms!
I saw the pom poms on sale at Walmart for $5 but I still didn't get them... now I kind of regret it! Your pillow's gorgeous btw!
I love the pillow and cute pom poms. How much fabric did you need for the pillow? I would love to try to make one myself. Thank you for sharing.
~Ana♥
Gorgeous!!! I've been into texture lately, too, and was planning to stitch some more 3-D elements on to my daughters' bedspreads and pillows. I am just wondering about what fabrics will work that way. Won't a lot of them fray if the edges are left raw?
Beautiful pillow - I quite like texture too - can't wait to see what you create next for the Moda Bake Shop
so cute! i love texture.
LOVE that pillow! I totally remember making similar tissue paper pom poms or flowers when I was a kid. I'm going to try this using the tutorial.
Wow...we used those m.s. pom poms from michaels for a baby shower!!!! I would have never thought to make them! {I always always think if I can make something first b4 I buy..I should have thought harder!} LOL What a fun project with the kids!
Love that little throw. Gorgeous.
So much fun! You are so inspirational.
That pillow is gorgeous. I actually gasped when I saw it. Just lovely!
Thanks so much for mentioning my tutorial. These pom poms are so easy and cheap to make!
I'm loving your pillow!! Would you like to send me instructions and I'll feature you on my blog? Only if it's easy enough:)
Thanks a bunch
i have made ONE pom pom. i bought three colors but haven't gotten that far.
i LOVE the pillow, been wanting to do that at my house. etsy has some adorable ones too.
V, these are very sweet! Thanks for sharing!
Super cute pillow! I hope you will share a quick tutorial. What kind of fabric did you use to get that soft look? Love the aqua flowers. Great job on the pom poms too... they are the craze these says!
Oh and how fab to have a designdazzle feature offer! Yeah for V & Co!
I really hope you make a mini tutorial for the pillow - it's amazing! I could see me making lots of them for my home! I'm surrounded by guys (hubby and two boys), so anything girly in the house that I can get away with is great!
I made mine from the Martha kit because I was mystified about how to do it. And no one had posted instructions on it. But I love them! They are hanging in my little girl's room. I want to make giant yellow ones for my room but my hubs said that was WAY too girly.
I love your strawberries on Moda Bake Shop. I used your photo on my blog with a link to you, if this is a no no please let me know and I will remove it. I love your blog and your style! De
Okay I love that pillow! But my 9 year old Ben is sitting right next to me and is cracking up saying it looks like a mummy. Thanks for making us have such a fun time. He can't believe I am writing this. But I LOVE everything you make.
Oh that pillow is gorgeous! I would LOVE to know how to make one also! They would be so cute in my girls room.
I really like the white pillow made with the honey bun or jelly strips. I have seen these in stores, but never a solid like this. Very rich & horchow-ish!
love, love, LOVE that pillow!!!!
I found your site from "just a girl".... I like your style so I'm keepin ya on my blogroll..welcome to my list of girls..
Love the pom-poms! Such a cute idea, and I love economical crafts!
those ruffles are delicious!
soooo beautiful!
I just love those pom poms! I gave in & bought the M.S. kit for a party that I gave...they were a big hit. My mom says that she used to make them (much smaller ones, obviously) out of colored kleenex when she was a kid.
That pillow is gorgeous! And I love the pompoms! We just did those for a bridal shower. Very cute!
Love the pillow!! Will there be a tutorial?
I tried my hand at one of those flowers the other day at work (I work at an afternoon care club for 1st and 2nd graders) to spruce up our new digs... Came out cute, but I had the worst time with the paper ripping..
I think I'll be stringing pom poms to yarn next...no ripping prospects, heh..
Okay I lied. I can NOT get over that white pillow with the flower. So beautiful. Such perfect colors. Love everything about it.
