V and Co: operation springbreak n'a giveaway

so operation spring break is in full swing over here. i have forgotten how much i love a scheduled break. the kids and i have been cleaning and organzing in the mornings, run errands in the mid morning then...we go and play. and with this weeks crazy awesome weather, we've been outside everyday...all day it seems with a few indoor activities thrown in there.
it makes for not getting any actual sewing work done, but sometimes thats okay and we've enjoyed indoor pools, and parks, friends, and even... gasp... a germ infested chuck e cheese. thank you hand sanitizer.
i do all of this in the name of "operation no video games or tv till 5 pm" it's hard to do when that is a reward during the school year for homework completion and good grades...but if i keep them busy and outside, (thank you weather!) they tend to let the hours go by with out a "how much more time till we get to play games?" and surprise surprise, sometimes...5pm passes by and kids have been known to not play or watch tv for a whole day. only happened two times this break, but still we're doing pretty good.

most summers run like that for us.
last summer not so much with 3 moves between the june 1-july 29... we watched a lot of netflix and played games in between moves and swimming. but i wanted to see if i still had it in me. you know that whole schedule thing while they aren't in school bit. and it seems to of been a smooth transition back.

 it makes me happy. :D
it's been a long time since we've had a really good schedule.
i'm so ready for it and i hope to implement it again during our summer months.

so to  keep with the happy mood and spring love, lets have a happy little giveaway. nothing huge. just a little bit of happiness to make your day a little brighter as mine have been.
this magazine (along with three more) came in the mail for me. its called all small and it's a special publication of wall hangings, table runners and baby quilts of some of the favorite projects from the editors of american patchwork and quilting
whoot i  have a a project in this magazine. :)
soooooooooooo.....
i'm giving away three of these magazines.
and i'm throwing in one of my books into the mix.
so three winners will recieve a magazine and one of the winners will ALSO win a signed copy of my book with the magazine.

all you have to do is:

tell me what you've been up to. any special projects or plans?

you know i've been enjoying the sun and dreaming of sewing...have you been sewing and dreaming of sun? or have you been doing both?!
only one entry please but please include your email address at the bottom of the comment.
i'll pick a winner later on this week.
:) happy spring!

We aren't to spring break yet (first week of April), so I'm sewing twenty kung fu robes for the Mulan musical my daughter is in. I know, it's not the funnest, but sometimes we parents have to put away our awesome, creative projects and make boring, black costumes. :)

I feel your pain. We moved cross-country last summer. If feel like all we did was watch tv and unpack. Lame. I have high hopes for this summer!

Your book is a great prize on its own but that All Small magazine looks just awesome. I've never seen that or heard about it before but it sure looks perfect for me.

I've been up to planning and getting derailed every single time by kids and phone calls ugh. I almost got to touch my machine today. LOL Got the ironing board out, fabric out, pattern printed, diapers ready and more fabrics for those. Tomorrow I may just ignore my phone and sew. I have a one month old Granddaughter to make blankets, bibs, and burp cloths for and a bunny pattern I'm testing for someone too.

Thank you for the chance to win. Good luck with spring break. My kids usually lasted about two days before starting the 'I'm bored Mom'. BUT I survived that part of my life as did all three of my boys. LOL

I just moved 2 weeks ago and doubled my studio sewing space. Still unpacking boxes, getting old house ready to lease and keeping my new 4 month old grandson 4 days a week. Trying to organize the studio so I can start on the scarves and baby blankets I donate to the Deeper Still ministry for their April retreat; and, planning the table cloth and sink curtain for my new kitchen. Next will be working on new cushions and pillows for the screen porch furniture. Then there are new pillow covers to make for the living room and TV room. In between the big projects, my grandchildren will be needing clothes and I have promised my daughters monogrammed tote bags. Of course, Spring is coming and flowers and garden have to be planted. . . OMG, so many creative projects want to do and only 24 hours in a day.

What a great magazine! I was looking forward to spring break to not have scheduled time to be places and just being able to relax or be spontaneous. Im already feeling like an unproductive loser though so it looks like some projects are in my future. It would be awesome if I could motivate myself to do some spring cleaning in my sewing room and dust off my machines. Momma is in great need of some sewing time. Maybe this magazine is just the motivation I need. Small projects are much less intimidating than the huge quilt hanging on my design wall right now.

I rarely enter these things because I think, "what are my chances of winning, 1 in a 1,000??" but I couldn't resist the chance to win your book! I have been up to a little spring cleaning, a little fabric collecting for an upcoming quilt project, and a little bit of praying that the prom dress I am about to make for my daughter turns out! Wish me luck.

I've been painting a twin bed headboard and footboard for my son's bed. I think it is time to get his springboard and mattress off the floor, although it is the perfect size for him right now. I sewed my girl a super cute pillowcase dress for Spring picture day in a couple of weeks, she will be wearing it tomorrow for a friend's birthday party. And am about to complete an entire ensemble for the birthday girl: a skirt, matching applique onesie, headband and diaper cover. That is just the tip of the iceberg, but all of the fun stuff.

I am beginning to think that you brought us this wonderful weather when you moved here to Iowa. I have lived here all of my life, not that I'm very old, but I can't remember ever having such a mild winter. I am LOVING the sun and temps right now. It is hard to think about sewing (even though I have 2 quilts to finish) when it's so nice out. I have been working in the yard until dinner time and then taking the litte one outside until dark. Sigh....I hope the weather stays. Thanks for the chance to win!

Our break is two weeks away. . . I am looking forward to it, as it has been a hectic start of the year. I have been working on butterfly wings and aprons to stock up my etsy shop before Easter. . . They will be uploaded soon.

Ok, I have like at least five or so projects in my head I want to start! Probably just focus on a spring linen wreath, and Easter projects, might plant some seeds in egg shells with my girls. We've been enjoying bike riding with neighborhood friends and went to California adventure yesterday!

I've been enjoying the beautiful spring like weather and working on several projects. At home I'm working on a Sparkle Punch quilt, at work I've been painting lots of barn quilts, and I always have a "travel" project that I work on in the car, in front of the TV or at baseball practice, hexagons. I'm looking forward to summer and lots of sewing...

Thanks so much for the chance to win the magazine and your book! I have your book on my amazon list!

I am starting to sew quilts, diaper bags and other items for my newest grandson, due in June. I admire your ability to limit tv and video games. It's tough. When my girls were small, we would periodically have no tv week. By the end of the week, they weren't even asking for it anymore.

I've been knitting like a mad woman, for the wee one in my tummy, and for my friends charity auction to help pay for IVF. I also got some material for a maternity skirt, just got to find the energy to cut and sew. Very envious of your sunshine, the weather is a little bipolar here, we've had a ton of rain, with snow and sun mixed in.

Oh boy, do I have lots of projects! I JUST finished (a few minutes ago!) my first pillow, from your faux pleated pillow tutorial. Looks great! But I cut all the strips myself from a non-cooperative material. Three more to go! Also, I have planned to make two other pillows of an undecided nature, dresses for my two daughters out of a cute pink/orange zebra fabric I found, a fabric storage caddy for all my sewing goodies, a toy storage bin, new curtains for my local animal shelter, and if I can convince hubby (I have been working so hard on it), someone outdoor curtains for our terrace! We moved four months ago but I just got my sewing machine about 2 weeks ago, so I have been planning projects and buying the fabrics like crazy, but just got started on making them! That reminds me... I really need a new sewing machine. I'll get working on it.
