V and Co: operation springbreak n'a giveaway

so operation spring break is in full swing over here. i have forgotten how much i love a scheduled break. the kids and i have been cleaning and organzing in the mornings, run errands in the mid morning then...we go and play. and with this weeks crazy awesome weather, we've been outside everyday...all day it seems with a few indoor activities thrown in there.
it makes for not getting any actual sewing work done, but sometimes thats okay and we've enjoyed indoor pools, and parks, friends, and even... gasp... a germ infested chuck e cheese. thank you hand sanitizer.
i do all of this in the name of "operation no video games or tv till 5 pm" it's hard to do when that is a reward during the school year for homework completion and good grades...but if i keep them busy and outside, (thank you weather!) they tend to let the hours go by with out a "how much more time till we get to play games?" and surprise surprise, sometimes...5pm passes by and kids have been known to not play or watch tv for a whole day. only happened two times this break, but still we're doing pretty good.

most summers run like that for us.
last summer not so much with 3 moves between the june 1-july 29... we watched a lot of netflix and played games in between moves and swimming. but i wanted to see if i still had it in me. you know that whole schedule thing while they aren't in school bit. and it seems to of been a smooth transition back.

 it makes me happy. :D
it's been a long time since we've had a really good schedule.
i'm so ready for it and i hope to implement it again during our summer months.

so to  keep with the happy mood and spring love, lets have a happy little giveaway. nothing huge. just a little bit of happiness to make your day a little brighter as mine have been.
this magazine (along with three more) came in the mail for me. its called all small and it's a special publication of wall hangings, table runners and baby quilts of some of the favorite projects from the editors of american patchwork and quilting
whoot i  have a a project in this magazine. :)
soooooooooooo.....
i'm giving away three of these magazines.
and i'm throwing in one of my books into the mix.
so three winners will recieve a magazine and one of the winners will ALSO win a signed copy of my book with the magazine.

all you have to do is:

tell me what you've been up to. any special projects or plans?

you know i've been enjoying the sun and dreaming of sewing...have you been sewing and dreaming of sun? or have you been doing both?!
only one entry please but please include your email address at the bottom of the comment.
i'll pick a winner later on this week.
:) happy spring!

I have been dreaming of sun because I am in the wet state of OR! But that has given me the chance to sew, sew, sew, the baby blankets for Dorenbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. Nothing super fancy, but I enjoy sending warmth and love to the children up there!

Love all of your tutorials and thanks for the giveaway.

Well this crazy warm weather has me just waiting until this Sunday when our Spring Break starts. Well it starts for the kids on Sat. but I am working. It has been so nice that my sewing machine has been more of a dust collector. But sometimes it's nice to just take a break and enjoy your family which is what I intend to do. I think I may use your no tv rule for our spring breaknext week, thanks for the idea.

I am enjoying the wonderful weather by planting a garden...My first time actually planting a big one and I am really optimistic!

I'm so jealous of your sun! We've had 3 days of unseasonal snow, with some much more seasonal rain thrown in just to make everything slushy and awkward!

In the sewing room I'm about as uncooperative as the weather, jumping from project to project and creating more mess than anything else. I need a big dose of focus!

It has been a very busy week...my son is home on spring break from college and he celebrated his 21st bday. So I've had my share of cocktails this week with him! I have also finished a king size quilt for his birthday and I have two table runners in the works. Friday night I am having 17 family/friends over for my son's bday so I've been preparing/cooking for several days at night since I work full-time! Whew!

Spring break here as well!!! Temps in the upper 70's and the kids are loving it!!!! I have been able to quilt alot this week as the traffic is terrible in our little town this week. There was a slide on the interstate and all the southbound traffic off I-75 has been diverted thru here. One day the northbound traffic was as well because of a terrible accident. We have all accepted it, and using our time wisely. Thanks so much for the opportunity!!!

I'm spending my spring break watching. Watching as a small repair, (done by the builder of our home, under warranty) has turned into a massive undertaking. Who would have guessed that they only put 2 nails in some I-beams and, oopsies, put nails in a decorative post anchoring it to the trusses and causing the house to, essentially, pull itself into a fist in the winter and spread like bird wings in the summer.
Needless to say, it's highly disturbing and I hope the construction works...so do our potentially buyers and the baffled engineers.
Did I mention that I'm in school, busy with my 3 young boys, and supposed to move in 3 weeks while watching all of this?
Oddly, what I am doing is not too stressful for me. Just interesting at this point. Although, I do wish I could at least see my sewing machine.

Spring break in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is FAAAAAAR less sunny than where you are!!!! Although, I can't complain, the temperatures have gone from -12C to +12C in a matter of days. This week, I am dreaming up the cute jumpers I am going to make for my 3 little girls (5, 3, 6 months) and the pillowcase dresses for summer. Can't wait to get started on those, but while the girls are home for spring break, nothing can be done.

Being that it is spring break, I have been trying to keep kids from killing each other, trying to get my boys bed quilts made and, if I have time, I'd like to make some new potholders. I am also going to try to make a few of those easter eggs and balls that you have on your site. so cute by the way.

I hope it is my lucky day and I get the email from you saying, :you won :)

Started the NY Beauty QAL and with a few hiccups along the way have completed 2 squares. I've also been busy making some table runners for the holidays. Having fun sewing. Thanks for the chance!

I'm in western Washington and we are having awful wind and rain. Bleh! So, in between the typical day with a three and half year old and 3 month old I am working on a quilt which is some much needed color and cheerfulness. It's a little sad to look outside and see my tulips poking out of the sloppy mud!
I'm totally with you on the schedule thing too! It makes life so nice and easy for everybody. Have some fun in the sunshine for me.

I wish I was sewing a little bit but we are going through the adoption process for our third child. We are so excited for that child to become part of our family even though he/she may not be born yet. The paper work isn't our favorite but we should be done by this time next week with the whole process. Awesome! Then the real wait begins. I will sew then. darcycbeck @ yahoo dot com

Hi,
my name is Kasia (Catherine) and I live in Poland. Sorry for my bad English :)))
I like your blog. It's great.

In Poland, we are waiting for spring... and spring comes so slowly :)
But in the sun, which sometimes looks to me, I dream of sewing new spring bags...

Now I'm working on a quilt for a sick little girl and the pillow for kids (birthday gifts).

I greet you from the distant Poland, "somewhere" in Europe :-))

Oh I would love to win these! Your book looks amazing. I have started a new quilt for a 33-year-old lady who has macular degeneration and is losing her sight. So my goal is to get it done as soon as I can so she can enjoy the beautiful colors, her favorites, and I plan to quilt it to death so at some point at least she can feel the texture and know someone cares. :)
