V and Co: it's my birthday giveaway

well it's my birthday.
yup.
last year i turned 36 this year i'm deciding that i'm turning 29.
and then next year.
29 again.
sound like a plan?
yeah i'm excited to turn 29 i feel like it's going to be a good year :) 29 is a good year.

actually 37 isn't so bad. i feel pretty great, and it isn't till i write down "3 years from 40." that i want to throw up. seriously?

okay i'm 29. 11 years from 40. that's better. :)

these last two weeks my mom's been here and we've been organizing and cleaning. and then organizing some more.
it's been nice to place all the scraps i have in color bins. it looks really pretty even if it's not as pretty as
amanda jean's fabric box's :)
but none the less it's nice to get things organized.

btw oh have you heard of this book? yeah it's pretty amazing. and pretty to look at.
Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison has been out for a little while but i have been saving this book for a special occasion to finally talk about it and give away a copy of it.
no wonder this book has been flying off of shelves! it's gorgeous and amanda and cheryl are amazing at what they do.
taking pretty left over project scraps and compiling them and creating a gorgeous project all on its own.
i love amanda and cheryl's style. clean and colorful.
and never wasting your scraps.

i have a signed copy to give to one lucky winner.
AND i'm going to include some of my simply color scraps to go with the book.

and well for a limited time i'll also include a 37% discount on all of my PDF patterns. (only PDFs)
just include the code "BIRTHDAY" at the checkout and the discount will be given! (good through wednesday 11-14-12)

okay, now for a chance to win Sunday Morning Quilt's book and some of my scraps you need to:
1. first chance: leave me a comment and tell me what you do to turn back the aging clock. (i'm just asking for a friend, i swear.) (leave a contact email at the bottom of your comment)

2. second chance: visit amanda jean's blog leave her a hello comment and that you love her awesomeness  (leave me a second comment that you did, with a contact email)

3. third chance: visit cheryl's blog and leave her a hello comment and that you think she's got great calves (kidding just tell her you love her awesomeness too) (leave me a third comment saying you did so)

three chances. do one or all three your choice. :)

but please leave a contact email where you can be reached if you win.
(you can type it out like vanessa(dot)christenson(at)gmail(dot)com if you like. :)
the winner will be announced on wednesday!
:) okay have fun and happy birthday to me!

Happy Birthday! Turning back the clock...how about keeping it from advancing quite so fast? Smile, find time to do something that makes you happy, and remember that there are things to be grateful for. (This become more important as you get older and develop more aches and pains!)

Keep your soul smiling. Don't be around negativity. Always think of others first. That will feed your soul and keep you young. Park your car as far away as possible and safe. That keeps you healthy.

You don't look a day over 28! There is NO need to use a clock to turn back time! You are still rocking it!!

Happy Birthday ... just think, you're really 19 with 18 years experience! Still a teenager.

First of all, I think you're doing it all wrong. Claiming that you are 29 forever is going to be a big problem when you don't look 29. I turn back the aging clock by actually adding 10 years to my age. This way, when I'm looking pretty haggard at 40, people will think I'm 50 and say "You look awesome for a 50 year old!" he he

Happy birthday!!!

Kids are great for you to feel young. I became a mom at 40, am now 46 and have an almost 6 year old! We are the oldest parents in her Kindergarten class, but everytime I think about being old, I think 2 things. 1. My husband is 50! 2. I have more courage to try things now,...being young isn't all it's cracked up to be! Have fun with your 29th birthday (again!)

Don't know how to turn back the clock....but, may I suggest...never look DOWN into a mirror (gravity is not our friend). Also, as my father used to say "you may be older than you've ever been, but you're younger than you will ever be again". It is true every year.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but I don't bother to shower every day. I'm convinced the natural oils keep my skin younger and hair healthier :)

Amanda said...

Okay, so I really am only 29, but I'll be 30 next week so maybe the aging clock is just around the corner. My plan is to never go anywhere in yoga pants like they're real clothes. I'm yet to see anyone look younger in yoga pants.

I just turned 40 and feel AWESOME about it! But I do Zumba and it has transformed my life. I just told my husband last week that if you and I lived in the same town we would be friends. Same sense of humor. I like your designs too but really, you just crack me up :0)

My birthday is on the 10th also, but I turned 56!! I have a daughter that turned 37 on October 24th, every time she gets another year older, I feel really old!! When she turns 40 ACK!!! But in saying all that, I am just glad to always turn another year older, I feel good and just go with the flow of life. Not everything is the way I would like it, but it is just the way it is! I have a wonderful husband, three beautiful daughters, three great son-in-laws and six grandchildren, 3 boys, 3 girls.

As someone who turned 50 (yes, that's 5-0, as in FIFTY) on her last birthday, I have no real sympathy for you!!!!!! I will tell you to use sunscreen on your lips (I am extremely careful to use SPF on my face, but I did get a tiny pre-cancerous growth near my lower lip because I wasn't using lip balm with SPF.) Keep sewing, stay active, and practice gratitude---that is my advice.

Happy Birthday! Hope it was fantastic! I'm almost 1 year exactly behind you. My birthday was yesterday and it kinda sucked- the only reason my family even remembered was because the relief society put a happy birthday sign in my yard! I love your blog and projects!

"Turn back the clock?" Pah! I say, "Embrace the experience. You're as young as you feel!" Obviously, you're 29. I admit to 39, but you wouldn't be wrong if you guessed nearly 60. Now THAT'S a big number!

Looks like you had a grand time in Austin. So you didn't go to fall market?

Thanks for the chance to win!

I'm actually excited to be old... I think that is what keeps me seeming younger than I actually am. Perks of aging... Senior discounts, retirement, socially acceptable crankiness, the list could go on and on.

I'd love to win, so that the 65 year old in my heart can do some quilting!

Happy Birthday!!!

For my anti-aging I drink a glass of homemade juice from my juicer every morning! It gives you all the vitamins and minerals for the day (not made by the pharmacutical companies), energy for the day and a healthy dose of anti oxidants (which is the wrinkle's worst enemy!)

Abbey said...

You already look 29! You are the one who should be giving away your antiaging secrets! Happy Birthday! And thanks for a chance to win!
