well it's my birthday.
yup.
last year i turned 36 this year i'm deciding that i'm turning 29.
and then next year.
29 again.
sound like a plan?
yeah i'm excited to turn 29 i feel like it's going to be a good year :) 29 is a good year.
actually 37 isn't so bad. i feel pretty great, and it isn't till i write down "3 years from 40." that i want to throw up. seriously?
okay i'm 29. 11 years from 40. that's better. :)
these last two weeks my mom's been here and we've been organizing and cleaning. and then organizing some more.
it's been nice to place all the scraps i have in color bins. it looks really pretty even if it's not as pretty as
amanda jean's fabric box's :)
but none the less it's nice to get things organized.
btw oh have you heard of this book? yeah it's pretty amazing. and pretty to look at.
Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison has been out for a little while but i have been saving this book for a special occasion to finally talk about it and give away a copy of it.

Happy Birthday!!!!! Well, you cant turn back the clock but what you can do is enjoy the moments, always look for what is good (worrying about the bad stuff just makes you feel like crap and gives you bad wrinkles!! ) Just do your best and when you have to, step back and stop, readjust yourself and keep on going! LOL its great fun!!
enjoy every year
i follow your blog

Doesn't matter what the calendar says, as long as you keep your brain busy learning new things.

I turned the big 5-0 last month. Moisturizer, sunscreen, exercise and keep your wardrobe updated with current fashions! LOL. Happy birhtday
No way! Its my birthday too! Happy Birthday to you!! Hmm. To turn back the clock my cousin told her oldest that she was 10 yrs younger than she really is, so every year her daughter tells everyone her moms age is 10 yrs younger than she really is -- ha! I don't have any good tricks like that one. Just keep up with your kids-- that'll keep you young as you need to be. Happy Day!

Happy Birthday! Mine was a couple of days ago and I'm (much) older than you. 50 something. How do I try to stay younger? I keep having a 29th birthday, too. I recommend staying active--walking or hiking. Buying fabric. Chocolate. Moisturizer. Concealer. Sewing!

Happy 29th Birthday! I've lied about my age for so long that if I have to tell someone my real age, I actually have to think about it. I've been 29 for many years, until my youngest child turned 30, So now I am 39!
Happy Birthday - and use ALOT of sunscreen!

I think you should be telling us how you turn the clock back!! I had no idea what your age was. To keep myself feeling youthful i exercise everyday, wash my face 2x/day so i can put on appropriate potions and i wear sunscreen every day, even if its raining or I am not leaving the house.

Happy birthday Vanessa! May you rock 29 for at least 11 more years. What keeps me young? My kids. They also make me old beyond my years though, so I guess it's a toss up. :D
I just remind myself that one year older is better than the alternative by far!
I just visited (and subscribed to) Amandas blog. She is amazing!! If i don't win the book I think i will have to put it on my xmas/bday list:)
I left Cheryl a comment...thanks for leading me to her! More inspiration to add to my to-do list.
Just visited (and again subscribed!) to Cheryl's blog. Thanks for shedding light on two more great blogs!! Hope you are having a wonderful bday!! :)
Happy Birthday Vanessa!
I do absolutely nothing to turn back that aging clock. Did you ever hear that saying "don't mess with mother nature"? Yea, I'm not gonna mess with her at all. LOL Ok that's a little lie. As I got older I moisturized my face 2-3 times a day to help keep my youthful glow. HA didn't help but my skin isn't horribly dry so that worked. I have no 'glow' anymore though but hey, who wants a glowing face anyway right? LOL
I hope you are totatlly spoiled on your birthday.
And a comment or three for Amanda Jean. She is so incredibly talented. Personally, I'm drooling over that pillow she made her son!
also--my mother was 29 for three years... I was filling out a form for school while she was doing dishes and it asked age and she replied 29. I said, "mom, this is the third year you have said that." she was 32... i say go for it! :)
I posted to Amanda Jean's blog. I've been a follower of her blog for quite awhile. And yes, I have had her book on my wish list since she first released it. I just love the cover quilt.
(oh shoot! I forgot to leave my email address in my first comment but it is linked from my blogger profile so hopefully that's ok)

Oh Sweetie, you're just a pup! Enjoy each and every minute for it goes by so quickly. I'm 65 on T-day, doing Crossfit and drink lots of greensmoothies. I'm getting older, we all are, but I never want to be old. There is a difference. LOVE your sweet, contemporary patterns. Happy, Happy Birthday. May it be a great year for you and all you love. pollyhada@gmail.com

I said hi to Amanda Jean & told her that she is awesome (she really is BTW)>
I said hi to Cheryl as well & commended her on her awesomeness (again, a genuine belief). I didn't mention her calves. Happy birthday again, hope you enjoy the celebrations.

Sorry...can't turn back the clock. :) You are only as old as you let yourself feel. In my mind I'm still 20.....the only time I know the difference is when I look in the mirror. lol

I lost 90 pounds this past year and I eat healthier than I ever have. I feel like a new person....and I just turned 57!!
Well, it's too late to do what I did to turn back the clock - I have my kids in my late 30,s. In fact, I was pregnant with #1 when I was turning 37! So now that they are in their late teens, I hang with women 10 years younger than me cuz our kids are the same age. Happy Birthday! Age is a state of mind, and birthdays are better than the alternative!

Happy birthday Vanessa! I suggest you.. why don't you fix 27 in your thoughts? It's a nice age, closer to 25 then to 30 , gold time for women! Never mind if the passport lies. Forever young.
I like very much this book and I hope to win it. Barbara from Italy

Happy Birthday! Isn't being 29 the best? Cut the white sugar and eat more bell peppers, its helps, alot, I know. Other than that just being a Gemini keeps me young...as we always feel like a kid. LOL or maybe just crazy..

getting older--it's all attitude
Happy, Happy Birthday! I so know what you mean about trying to pretent that the number is different than reality. I do not like the number I will be 2 years from now.
To turn back the clock all I did was to bring my babies home. Having a 3 and 5 yr old certainly keep me very busy. thankfully I don't look my age at all but he parents of my kids' classmates are really surprised if they learn my true age.
I follow Amanda's blog already so I already know how awesome she is...I've told her that many times plus again today just to make sure she really knows it.
LOL. Happy, Happy birthday! I hope you had a great day. I am 42, my fourth child is 7months old. I was told, when I had him, that "He will keep you young". LOL, so there you are, have a baby, keep yourself young :D
Laugh and exercise! Sometimes I laugh while exercising.
Happy Birthday Vanessa!
I'd say (for staying young) ~ drink lots of water, get plenty of exercise, eat as well as you can, get plenty of sleep and love love love!
went to Amanda's blog and said hello ~ she's got a great blog!
Went to Cheryl's blog ~ love it! That bag is too much!
Happy birthday, Vanessa! What do I do to keep young? I have decided not to worry about it. My kids are at such a great age - I wouldn't want to go backwards. Since I inherited my dad's red hair and freckles - I tend to avoid the sun - so that helps with the wrinkles!

Hahaha I hear ya! I used to say I was having the _____ anniversary of my 29th birthday. Then the anniversary years got to be so large I just embraced the age :o) I turned 50 this past September. I have to say that staying fit and exercising are probably the best way to feel younger. Or at least not feel older anyway. Thanks for the give away Sarah at sllj40 at yahoo dot com.

Happy Birthday!!! My dad has always said that you have to grow old, but you don't have to grow UP!!
Happy Birthday you YOUNG thing you!
Well....since I will be celebrating 57 in January....I too have had issues with certain numbers...30 was the big one! oh that one hurt!
about 5 years later, a friend, who was a bit older than me said to me. "Age is just a state of mind, if you have no mind you have no age"! So with that I wish you a Happy Birthday, just make sure you celebrate just a wee bit more than last year and a wee bit less than you will next year! Embrace your age! When people ask how old you are, you tell them, because 9 out of 10 times you are going to get...But you don't look it..you don't look a day over 30! If you act young, look young, feel young, this will reflect through you to others! I often think, especially with 57 must around the corner, so this is what 56 feels like, it isn't so bad, I still feel young, I still can run up the stairs, I keep my mind active and I love life...If you are young internally you will project that to those around you!
Of course I do tell my 34 and 32 and 31 and 22 yr olds that I am still too young to be a Grandma! LOL that is my excuse I give for not having grandchildren...i know when they are able and ready, I will be too .... that will be another AGE HUMP I will have to face! Bring it on Sistah!
Mindless = ageless me! Valerie

Exercise, healthy eating and not taking myself too seriously. Oh and I somtimes smother my emotions with chocolate and chips and that seems to have kept the grey hairs aways so far.
Happy Birthday! This Wednesday I will be turning 38, just 2 more yrs till 40!!!! ugggh! how I turn back the clock....well "im a toys'r'us kids, i don't want to grow up"lol

Finally became a grandmother at the age of 68. Spending delicious time with my now 1-year old granddaughter and sewing for her as I did for her mother has turned back the clock for me and made me feel 29 again!
I turned the dreaded 4-0 this year! And my only stay young secret is refusing to grow old! I feel younger than 40 and don't really think about it, unless I think about it... ya know?
btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Happy Birthday! Unfortunately, time is relentless. Just enjoy your family and things that are important.
Best anti aging is drinking lots of water great for the skin.

lindalerwick at juno dot com
Happy birthday, sweetie. I am way older than you and the only way to get around it and look young is to have a husband that looks older than you!! Apart from that how about a makeover at the beauty counter as it is all too easy to get in a rut doing the same look for years which can bre aging in itself. If that doesn't work then eat chocolate, as it is my answer to any problem in life.

I turn 34 on Wednesday. I've loved my 30s so far. I am less unsure of myself and like where I am in life. I did start using eye cream- they don't have anti aging ingredients, but just something to keep them moisturized. Don't listen to the advice of people who say you're only as old as you think. That's how you end up with women wearing very inappropriate clothing for their age. Nobody is Forever 21!
I would go back to the weight I was before 5 children! Oh my...I have a long ways to go!
Happy Birthday! Sunscreen!

Laugh a lot. At the very least you'll forget you're getting older!

Yeah, I'm not a good person to ask about the clock - I'm still plucking my gray hairs by hand. Congrats on hitting 29!
I commented on Amanda Jean's blog - the first sewing blog I ever came across :)
Happy Birthday! I'm about to be 37 also. Having babies and watching more cartoons than news keeps me young!!
Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. I know I feel about 100 until I've had a couple cups! ;)
I would LOVE to win! Please??

I just turned 34 and everyone tells me I look 23 so how about if we just trade situations? Then you can turn back the clock and I can look old enough to not get carded every time I want a drink! :)
This book has been on my wishlist...I would LOVE it. Thanks for the chance...and you don't look a day over 29.
Thanks for the giveaway. This is the ONE book that's out that I'd really like to have, (enough so I might add it to my Christmas list).
Play often. The humor you use in your blog makes me think you ply often in your house, keep it up!.
I'm off to visit Amanda and Cheryl's blogs as well.
My secret for feeling young is refusing to be bitter and jaded. I had gone out on a date with someone significantly older than me and when I asked him why he liked younger women, he said the women closer to his age were jaded and bitter!
You are only as old as you feel so do something that makes you feel young again.

Happy Birthday(belated)
Tmr is my birthday.(13th)...this would be fun to win!
Nov 11-17 there are 5 immediate family birthdays. Ages ranging from my son's 6th birthday to my grandmother's 92 on Friday. Hehe, I'm the 2nd youngest of the 5 birthdays :)
If we add you to the list, you are the second youngest! :)
Hope you had a great day!
The kids are in cahoots already so I know my day will be great!

I did go back to Amanda's blog...even though I had just been there as she is on my favorites list, too. I left her a message.
Left some blog love.
