I've finished a number of medium sized projects in the last few weeks and things are pretty quiet right now for me! I'm working on small baby quilts for our local hospital foundation, and not much else at the moment.

My hubby and I have been LOVING this wonderful weather! Our way to celebrate is to go hiking during the weekends. And it's inspiring us to keep the house nice and tidy and clean.
I think my next project I'm planning on doing is sewing some curtains for the front room. It'll make the room feel a lot more completed and less empty. I'm excited!

our spring break took a little sour note at the end there, right after i wrote how awesome our spring break was going, our oldest son, was admitted to the hospital.
literally i wrote the post and that son started throwing up and the pain in his stomach was a little too much to bear. so we took him in and sure enough the kiddo had a kidney infection. yikes. he didn't complain about anything the day prior, and as a matter of fact he was playing and goofing around running with some boys at the park.
but when i took him to the doctor and they ran some tests, we didn't even get to come home, we went straight to the hospital, and stayed there for two days and a night.
come to find out he has a duplicated collecting system in his left kidney, which makes it easier to have kidney infections. we were able to leave the hospital and go home once his fever got down to a normal range for at least 12 hours.
i have some great neighbors and friends that made it that i could stay with the kiddo. and i got to use my bus load of chocolate chips to make a few dozen cookies as thank yous. we took them around last night.
and well even though he's doing so much better today, and went to school, we still have doctor appointments, and decisions to make on what to do. i'm just grateful of how awesome the doctors were and that we went in when we did.
so for now we rest.
it sure makes you grateful for those very uneventful days where the complaining your kids do is just about folding laundry, and how bored they are. sometimes we take those days for granted, and it takes a pretty sick little boy to make you realize just how blessed you are with all the non complaining of scary things on a daily basis you don't have to deal with.

Oh goodness! That's a bummer way to end a great Spring Break. :( Glad the boy is better. Here's hoping the doc's give you good news and their is smoother sailing ahead.
Oh my goodness - how scary! My husband had a kidney infectino over Christmas - worst time of the year! To see this great big guy reduced to a quivering wreck was so scary. Kidney infections SUCK! Glad he is on the mend xx
So glad you were able to stay with your son and also that you are home again. Bless his (and your) hearts! I know what you mean about a turn of events, boom! I will be praying as you make those tough choices.
I smiled when I read about your chocolate chip cookies. :o) I did the very same thing for the nurses in neurology at the hospital. :o) I posted a picture too. They were angels in the flesh, both stays.

That's kinda scary news. I had a similar issue when I was very young, although for me, I would get really really sick and no one could figure out what the problem was. When they finally figured out it was the plumbing between my bladder and kidneys, they were able to fix it surgically. That was 25 years ago and I haven't had a problem since! I'll keep my fingers crossed that whatever you guys decide to do, he stays healthy and happy.

It's the WORST when our babies are sick! I've had the same scary Mom moments sitting in the ER with my kids. There've been times when nothing was wrong, and time when something is wrong. And it definitly gets you counting your blessings. Glad he's doing better. :o)
And at least you didn't have to eat all those chocolate chips yourself and REALLY have them go to your butt!

So relieved to hear that your son is on the mend and that working with the good docs that got him well that he will be tip top in no time.
We worry about our kiddos all the time, whether they are 6 or 16, don't we?
I am so sorry for what you had to go through. I don't think there is anything worst than a sick child and you can't do anything about it. I will pray for you.
ouch...I hope he's getting back on his feet smoothly....
It is so hard with kids when they seem absolutely fine and then, out of the blue, end up really sick. You feel like you must have missed something. I'm glad that he is back home and that you found something to do with all those chocolate chips.
Are you saying those chocolate chips are going to go straight to your rear?
That's a tough guy you have! You are right about having something like this happen making you appreciate the boring days.
So glad your son is feeling better. I am trying to be grateful everyday for the "normal" as you said it changes in an instant!
Hope your boy is feeling better and the treatment for the long run will make things better, or at least manageable for him and you too.
