size matters moda blog hop

welcome to my turn on the size matters blog hop!

my block is the dutchman puzzle block  (free download!)

BUT as you can see i decided to go even BIGGER for my final block:
i used the ombre fabrics in the simply style line for moda, and used a white bella solid as the background.
i quilted it with 50 wt aurifil white thread using simple straight lines.
oh no worries, did you think i was all look what i made and i'm not going to show you how to make it?? nope,  i didn't leave you hanging!
i made sure to do step by step on how to make this cute quilt!

now i've shown you what i did with my block...i made it bigger.
so i have a confession to make.
most of you already know it but might as well air it out again.

i'm short. *hangs her head in defeat*
and from what i gather as life goes on, i'll get even shorter. *sigh*

i grace at 5'1" but people say i'm exaggerating because they think i'm shorter.
i'm pretty sure you can give me the stupid 1" if i'm really 5' just let it go already okay? i mean it's a freaking inch.
overreacting you think i'm being? well fine.
here's the confession part:
i wear heels like ALL THE TIME. (minus when i'm wearing flip flops, but i've been known to wear wedge flip flops as well)
i even wear them at home when no one is around. i like that i can reach cabinets without having to climb on the counters, i like how my legs look longer than tater tots, i like that i feel like not everyone is talking to a small child when they talk to me...
oh go ahead and say it! but i don't care if you tell me i'm going to have bunions or hurt my back or start tripping (uh, have you not read my blog, i trip and fall for a hobby) nothing new there.
nope, i'll wear my darn 3-5 inch heals/platforms even when i'm having to drive a rascal!

hey you know what?

that's the plan! i'll wear 5" heals (ahem perhaps some stripper shoes as well) when i'm in my late 90's cause i'll be strolling around in a rascal anyways, and if i aint walking on em...they aint hurting my feet.
so just so you know, i'm going to be a 90 year old 5" heel wearing sassy little thing riding a rascal. because.
 i.
can.
till then i guess i'll just have to suffer walking in heels.
okay here's the rest of the crew doing the blog hop!

Do you know how your brain goes, "Ding Ding Ding", when you spot something that simply put, is "just for you!"? That is what happened when I saw your "Little Sprout" pattern which is awesome!!

btw, I got into a huge discussion/argument with the tech at my doctor's office all over my height measurement. I told her that I had been 5'5" since highschool and that, "I WAS NOT 5'3"!!. Now, I am 62 years old, but really.....shrinking two whole inches?? Bottom line, she gave me 1/4", probably to shut me up, and it did. My thinking was that everyone I hang with didn't seem taller so I must still be 5'5". Not. They are shrinking too! When my knees were replaced, I should have had the surgeon put "extensions" in there with the new joints. Loved your story about height and keep rocking those 5 inch heel/platforms, good for you girly!! Ellen

There's nothing wrong with being short! And there's nothing wrong with wearing 5" heels either or even stripper shoes. Go for it!! All of us would change 1 or 2 or 3 things about our body if we could! I love your patterns - very creative! For a quilt I would pick Bloom and for a non-quilt, well I have never seen a turkey and vegetables made out of fabric before. How creative and wonderful! It is too cute! I think it would be fun to have people over for Thanksgiving and let them smell the turkey and then serve the fabric one. :) No, just kidding! Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the banner quilt. And in response to your blog post, I am at the other end of the height spectrum at 5'10" (my niece is 6'1"!). It comes in handy at the grocery store, but I do hit my head more than is really necessary! A woman in the store once said to me "Goodness, you're tall," and without missing a beat my mother responded "Goodness had nothing to do with it!"

You are too funny with that one inch. Of course, I totally understand too; not that I'm the same height as you are but, I do understand not wanting to lose an inch. My husband is 6'6" tall and forever I have been 5'6" tall but I think possibly my very bad knees have made me shrink because things I could reach easily before in my kitchen I cannot reach any longer and at the doctor's office this past year they actually measured me and I had lost an inch. NOooo I can't get shorter with a husband as tall as mine because I already look so short next to him. lol

Anyway, I do love the Dutchman Block. I am not able to download the file but it appears that maybe United Notions site is the cause of the problem because I cannot get to their site at all. I'll try again later. Thank you.

Choosing a favorite pattern from your site really is very hard decision as I love so many already.

I'm not interested in clothes and bags - HAD to do that when younger, not gonna CHOOSE it now. LOL But I liked hopscotch quite a lot. Thanks for the giveaway. I like your big block, and loved you on the Schoolhouse film.

My favorite is Kaleidoscope. I have read your blog off and on for a long time and never realized you are not as tall as some people. You certainly have a lot of talent in that small package! Thanks for sharing the awesome pattern.

I really like confetti, the random placement of the hexagons is unusual and playful.
