V and Co: it's my birthday giveaway

well it's my birthday.
yup.
last year i turned 36 this year i'm deciding that i'm turning 29.
and then next year.
29 again.
sound like a plan?
yeah i'm excited to turn 29 i feel like it's going to be a good year :) 29 is a good year.

actually 37 isn't so bad. i feel pretty great, and it isn't till i write down "3 years from 40." that i want to throw up. seriously?

okay i'm 29. 11 years from 40. that's better. :)

these last two weeks my mom's been here and we've been organizing and cleaning. and then organizing some more.
it's been nice to place all the scraps i have in color bins. it looks really pretty even if it's not as pretty as
amanda jean's fabric box's :)
but none the less it's nice to get things organized.

btw oh have you heard of this book? yeah it's pretty amazing. and pretty to look at.
Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison has been out for a little while but i have been saving this book for a special occasion to finally talk about it and give away a copy of it.
no wonder this book has been flying off of shelves! it's gorgeous and amanda and cheryl are amazing at what they do.
taking pretty left over project scraps and compiling them and creating a gorgeous project all on its own.
i love amanda and cheryl's style. clean and colorful.
and never wasting your scraps.

i have a signed copy to give to one lucky winner.
AND i'm going to include some of my simply color scraps to go with the book.

and well for a limited time i'll also include a 37% discount on all of my PDF patterns. (only PDFs)
just include the code "BIRTHDAY" at the checkout and the discount will be given! (good through wednesday 11-14-12)

okay, now for a chance to win Sunday Morning Quilt's book and some of my scraps you need to:
1. first chance: leave me a comment and tell me what you do to turn back the aging clock. (i'm just asking for a friend, i swear.) (leave a contact email at the bottom of your comment)

2. second chance: visit amanda jean's blog leave her a hello comment and that you love her awesomeness  (leave me a second comment that you did, with a contact email)

3. third chance: visit cheryl's blog and leave her a hello comment and that you think she's got great calves (kidding just tell her you love her awesomeness too) (leave me a third comment saying you did so)

three chances. do one or all three your choice. :)

but please leave a contact email where you can be reached if you win.
(you can type it out like vanessa(dot)christenson(at)gmail(dot)com if you like. :)
the winner will be announced on wednesday!
:) okay have fun and happy birthday to me!

Happy Birthday!!!!! Well, you cant turn back the clock but what you can do is enjoy the moments, always look for what is good (worrying about the bad stuff just makes you feel like crap and gives you bad wrinkles!! ) Just do your best and when you have to, step back and stop, readjust yourself and keep on going! LOL its great fun!!

No way! Its my birthday too! Happy Birthday to you!! Hmm. To turn back the clock my cousin told her oldest that she was 10 yrs younger than she really is, so every year her daughter tells everyone her moms age is 10 yrs younger than she really is -- ha! I don't have any good tricks like that one. Just keep up with your kids-- that'll keep you young as you need to be. Happy Day!

Happy Birthday Vanessa!
I do absolutely nothing to turn back that aging clock. Did you ever hear that saying "don't mess with mother nature"? Yea, I'm not gonna mess with her at all. LOL Ok that's a little lie. As I got older I moisturized my face 2-3 times a day to help keep my youthful glow. HA didn't help but my skin isn't horribly dry so that worked. I have no 'glow' anymore though but hey, who wants a glowing face anyway right? LOL

I hope you are totatlly spoiled on your birthday.

bdaiss said...

And a comment or three for Amanda Jean. She is so incredibly talented. Personally, I'm drooling over that pillow she made her son!

elizabeth said...

also--my mother was 29 for three years... I was filling out a form for school while she was doing dishes and it asked age and she replied 29. I said, "mom, this is the third year you have said that." she was 32... i say go for it! :)

Happy, Happy Birthday! I so know what you mean about trying to pretent that the number is different than reality. I do not like the number I will be 2 years from now.

To turn back the clock all I did was to bring my babies home. Having a 3 and 5 yr old certainly keep me very busy. thankfully I don't look my age at all but he parents of my kids' classmates are really surprised if they learn my true age.

Valerie Joan said...

Happy Birthday you YOUNG thing you!

Well....since I will be celebrating 57 in January....I too have had issues with certain numbers...30 was the big one! oh that one hurt!
about 5 years later, a friend, who was a bit older than me said to me. "Age is just a state of mind, if you have no mind you have no age"! So with that I wish you a Happy Birthday, just make sure you celebrate just a wee bit more than last year and a wee bit less than you will next year! Embrace your age! When people ask how old you are, you tell them, because 9 out of 10 times you are going to get...But you don't look it..you don't look a day over 30! If you act young, look young, feel young, this will reflect through you to others! I often think, especially with 57 must around the corner, so this is what 56 feels like, it isn't so bad, I still feel young, I still can run up the stairs, I keep my mind active and I love life...If you are young internally you will project that to those around you!

Of course I do tell my 34 and 32 and 31 and 22 yr olds that I am still too young to be a Grandma! LOL that is my excuse I give for not having grandchildren...i know when they are able and ready, I will be too .... that will be another AGE HUMP I will have to face! Bring it on Sistah!

Mindless = ageless me! Valerie

Happy birthday, sweetie. I am way older than you and the only way to get around it and look young is to have a husband that looks older than you!! Apart from that how about a makeover at the beauty counter as it is all too easy to get in a rut doing the same look for years which can bre aging in itself. If that doesn't work then eat chocolate, as it is my answer to any problem in life.

Drink lots of water. I find as I age, it is harder to remember how old I am. I say stay 29 for a few more years! :) Happy birthday. I browsed through this book at a LQS the other day-it's great!

I want this book! I think age is mental, my 84 yr old grandma won't dance with her class at the old folks homes cause all the old ppl are weird! Haha

Heidi said...

Sorry, but I'm not at the point yet where I want to turn back the aging clock. I'm only 27 and a couple years ago I got mistaken for 17. I guess the secret is to look younger than you are. :)

I'm 29 and should totally be using anti-wrinkle cream, working out, drinking lots of water, etc. But actually I'm not really doing any of these things. I might need to get on that...

I can't believe you are 37! You don't look like you're 27!! Don't worry at least you're not turning 50 in 37 days! Yikes, that's a tough one:) I say you're only as old as you feel.

Karen said...

I turn 34 on Wednesday. I've loved my 30s so far. I am less unsure of myself and like where I am in life. I did start using eye cream- they don't have anti aging ingredients, but just something to keep them moisturized. Don't listen to the advice of people who say you're only as old as you think. That's how you end up with women wearing very inappropriate clothing for their age. Nobody is Forever 21!

I would go back to the weight I was before 5 children! Oh my...I have a long ways to go!

Yeah, I'm not a good person to ask about the clock - I'm still plucking my gray hairs by hand. Congrats on hitting 29!

I just turned 34 and everyone tells me I look 23 so how about if we just trade situations? Then you can turn back the clock and I can look old enough to not get carded every time I want a drink! :)

This book has been on my wishlist...I would LOVE it. Thanks for the chance...and you don't look a day over 29.

Thanks for the giveaway. This is the ONE book that's out that I'd really like to have, (enough so I might add it to my Christmas list).

Play often. The humor you use in your blog makes me think you ply often in your house, keep it up!.

I'm off to visit Amanda and Cheryl's blogs as well.

My secret for feeling young is refusing to be bitter and jaded. I had gone out on a date with someone significantly older than me and when I asked him why he liked younger women, he said the women closer to his age were jaded and bitter!

You are only as old as you feel so do something that makes you feel young again.

Nov 11-17 there are 5 immediate family birthdays. Ages ranging from my son's 6th birthday to my grandmother's 92 on Friday. Hehe, I'm the 2nd youngest of the 5 birthdays :)
