V and Co: ombre at target made me do it

have you been to target lately?
LOVE
all their yummy colors and sigh....
lately i've been struggling with my mental organization... as in i feel like my wheels are spinning out of control and i walk around aimlessly half the day thinking "okay i have to get this done...but wait i have to do this too...i'll work on this next and then...wait! i forgot i have to do this!!!" and i'm exhausted because i've started and worked on a bazillion things and then never finished one single thing...and before you know it kids are coming home, dinner needs to be made, and homework needs to be tackled.
i get things done...but the process...sheesh it's got to change...i'm trying

one day it was particularly bad and i decided to leave the house and possibly the spinning...and so i headed to target...

now confession: i've been avoiding target because i'm trying to build up some money to do some built in storage for our house (possibly create an area to call my "work space or office")...i know i don't have to buy anything while i'm there but for some reason target just makes me want to drop money like it's going out of style...so yes, avoiding the area of the temptation is the name of the game at my house...

but i had to get out ..so i did it, i bit the bullet and went to target just to walk up and down the aisles.

and well you should have SEEN what i piled in my basket...and then put back and walked away with only these adorable little bowls.
that i had to have.
had to.
no really.

i blame it on the obsession of ombre i have.
pretty sure the target people have some kind of deal with the devil where they just know how to make you spend money...and i seriously went to the dark side...because i went back shortly after and bought green and blue storage bins...and i wanted to buy sooo much more...that i had to just walk away. and vow not to go back for a long time...
and well, i've not gone inside target since.

it's scary in there with how cute everything is.
and i don't even want to know what's on sale, or what new things they've brought in...because i really REALLY need a sewing space to call my own. and soon.
we'll talk soon.

I saw those bowls too, and they ARE adorable! I agree, I never walk out of Target spending less than $80, it's terrible. I've recently decided to take camera phone pictures of everything I like (or "MUST HAVE NOW") when I'm at Target, so then I can still see them, and choose what essential item I will go back for later. It's like Pinterest, and so far (for one month) it has helped me cut down on my Target impulse control issues!

i went to 4 targets in 8 days while i was on vacation! It's a good thing my husband doesn't always deploy and that our local target is not that great. Because girrrrrl, I was getting into trouble too!!

Hilarious! Glad to know I'm not the only one with a Target problem.

i am now a target avoider as well, I could easily spend over $100 a week there, but now I don't go, so i save a lot! however, after we came to your house and i ate from those beautiful bowls - i went out and bought some for myself. couldn't help it. but at least they're useful! can't wait to see all you've been working on!

Good thing I don't have a target near. I am so in love with those bowls!!

Love your new bowls Vanessa! They remind me so much of you. :o) It is a good thing that my nearest Target is an hour away (well everything that matter is...). We have saved so much money since moving to the middle of no where!
ha ha ha. :o)
I sure miss Target and Micheals though ... oh and Starbucks and ... and ...

If you want good storage, check out the Ikea Varde 12 drawer kitchen island. It's the perfect height for storage. Mi love mine.

Now I need to go to Target...

congrats on the fabric line...I absolutely can't wait to see what it looks like...sort of something mod-vintage is what I'm imagining!

I'm the same way with Target and I do the same thing, avoid it for a while and then I have to buy something! I love their clearance items! I'm a girl scout leader so I check out the clearance bins and when I see something I might need in the future I buy it! I don't walk up and down the aisles any more I know where all the clearance sections are and head straight for those.

Stay strong and you will be rewarded! Good Luck!

Lists!! List is the way to get and stay on task!! Make lists!! I love a good list!! Contact Target and see how you and a reader can get a gift card!! When I want something new I sell something old on KSL or craigslist! You sold all your stuff before you moved...bumma! Do you still thrift shop? Buy something..re-sell it and make some DOUGH! DO you have a re-store? Go there for the built in stuff...so much cheaper! I need some more house pictures..ya know after the decorate bug bit!!

Happy Spring!

lol! This cracks me up because I think that there is a status going around on facebook for all the people who can't get out of Target without spending a $100. It is literally the only store that I have a store credit card for. But you know that you save 5% with every purchase when you use the card? ...no I don't work for Target...I'm just an addict like you and also try to avoid it. But I seriously just bought the BEST shower curtain there. ;)

Very pretty colors... but I pass on the shape... something that does not come clean in the dishwasher to deep... I am finding shallow soup bowls come out cleaner without food bits being trapped and they also fit better in the dish-washer.

Cute is only cute when it is practical.

Don't be too hard on yourself. They're so cute that I'm sure they just jumped in the cart and giggled all the way home! Oh my, you've got me so excited to see your sewing room though when you get it done. My daughter's getting married in June and then I'm painting her room and finally get a place to sew again! I never had my own space until 2-1/2 years ago when my son left on a mission. He's home and I had to give up the space (those two years were heavenly for sewing but I sure missed him and would rather have him home, lol!). I need all the fun ideas I can get so avoid Target and hurry and get the room done just for me!

This is great! lol As I was reading this post I kept thinking, "Wow, this sounds like me". So, I read it to my husband and he said, "Yeah, sound exactly like you". You are not alone! :)

We are on the same wavelength. I am avoiding Target because I am saving money for a possible move into a new home. If the move takes place we'll be about 2 miles from a Target Superstore! Do you have the Target Debit Card that gives you a 5% discount on everything? I feel like I am constantly getting a deal while shopping at Target!

My goodness; I didn't realize there were so many ways to stack bowls. Looks like you had fun. Cute!

OH MY GOSH! Target sucks you in! I can relate so well. And of course they have the most attractive items in your face when you have no money to spare and are not on your guard. I always want to call up my sister and go to Target on those overwhelming, boring, or just bad days, because that store really does make me feel better. It is a plot to get my money! Goodness, its wonderful and terrible. I agree that the best idea is just to avoid it, because the temmptation will overcome! I love your bowls! The vibrant colors certainly are a pick me up!

When I want to leave all of my $ at Target, I buy a $1.99 nail polish (that I don't need) and one cute thing that I do need (like a soap dispenser...but an antique-y, cute one).
Love the rainbow of bowls!

I'm feeling a trip to Target coming soon although my Target probably won't have any! I'm sure I can find something else I have to have.

Oooh those are pretty! Love the bright happy colors.

I've been staying away from Target as well! I can go other places and not spend a cent but it is really HARD to do that at Target.

So glad to hear someone else say they are frazzled mentally! Often wonder if I am the only one the feels that way.

I have heard it called the Hundred Dollar store, because you can't leave without spending $100.

I know. Target is amazing sometimes... Some items are almost as good as an 'Anthropologie-find' but on a tiny budget.

Isn't it funny, when we *have* to get out, we head to Target. I do that all. the. time. And I've been so proud of myself the past few times that I haven't spent more than $100! I totally agree, they must have a deal with the devil.

I avoid Target too. I shop at Walmart on purpose because the only things I come home with that aren't on my list are stuff like Oreo's and new Sharpies. But not all new dishes, towels, wardrobe and shoe collection. Nope, not tempted by Walmart shoes. But Target? That place is dangerous. Now, if I could stop going to DI my budgeting would work out a lot better...

Totally bought those same bowls!! I got the pink and am pondering going back for the blue. No clue what I'm really going to use them for. Darn you Target, LOL. Happens eeeeveryyyy time!

I lived 10 minutes away from two different Target stores in ABQ while my husband was attending PA school. When I felt stressed I'd go shopping. Yeah......I feel ya there.

I have read your blog for awhile and haven't said hi so I thought I had better, "hi, my name is Alicia and I love your blog!" I also love those bowls...I saw them on my weekly trip to Target last Friday but didn't snag them. I saw your blog and new my neighbor was on her way to Target so I called her and asked her to get me a turquoise set...SOLD OUT! Bummer but I will keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for your blog!
